I don't play alot of MTT's but entered this one this morning as it looked like it would only get around 100 people in it. 195 signed up by the start though, I ended up a rather frustrated 13th.

Anyway, here are some hands that helped shape my chip position or lack of. What would you do in each specific situation,

I feel bad that no one has responded to your post. I hate when that happens. So here is my quick analysis of the hands.

Hand 1: SB only bets 150 into a 600+ pot. He could be afraid of the two 9's but I think you're ahead. I would raise to 600. Either you're JJ are good or he could put you on a 9. Either way you probably make him fold.

Hand 2: Nice hand to see the flop with over 1200 in the pot. I would call and see the flop.

Hand 3: They are charging you too much for your draw. Fold.

Hand 4: Ditto.

First hand: I'm not sure what a min-reraise means on Stars, but in a higher Party tourney I instantly hate my hand. The flop is good for you, but I wouldn't want to pot commit myself with a big raise. Against a smart opponent, either a min-raise to 300 or a call might be good.

Hand 2: Easy call, IMO.

Hand 3: Easy fold, IMO.

Hand 4: You have 12 outs twice and can't be a big dog to anything he has, but your pot odds don't quite make it. I think I'd want to know what the average stack was, how far you're away from the final table and how much your bankroll needs the payout. I might fold, but I'd really hate myself for it later.

That is probably a good reason not to bet here, as almost anything he called with has to have hit this flop somehow. The pot is only 1700, but if you check, hit your 12 outs and he leads the turn, you are golden and might take his whole stack.

Hand 1: make it 600 to go.

Hand 2: Call

Hand 3: Fold.

Hand 4: Fold, but I think a bigger problem is your mini raise pre flop. Either call and take a flop or raise enough to push utg out of the hand. I favor calling and taking the flop. AJ is not a hand you try and isolate players with.

Hi all,

Thanks very much for the responses. Here is what I did and my thoughts.

Hand 1 - JJ - I folded, this seems to be against the general consensus. I didn't like his pre-flop -reraise and then the fact that he lead out into 3 callers. I sensed I was beat and it was still early, probably a weak fold

Hand 2 - I folded (I think I'm weak tight in tournys) I suppose the underlying problem is that unless I flop a monster - 2 pair, nut flush with overcards etc then I won't know how to lead out on the flop (for instance if just an A hits the flop)

Hand 3 & 4 - folded both, if I had called either and hit my flush I would have been near enough chip leader with around 30 left. I was around 10th when I folded both hands.

Anyway, thanks for the responses, I'll put some more hands up after my next tourney.

ps, to the newbie. CO (cut off) is the position one to the right of the button.

Hero is the default name you are given in BisonBison's hand converter. It is a nifty little tool that turns your hand history from the poker site into a readable format
