After slowly building up my bankroll from $50 to $500 over a month or two, this week I have had the worst swing ever. Every time I hit trips and try to push everyone out with a one pot or two pot sized bet, a draw will call me and hit it. Every time I hit two pair, somebody hits a higher two pair. Every time I have KK, somebody has AA, etc. I think I need to go on a little poker vacation for awhile. Sorry, just needed to vent.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed)

Actually, the answer to your question is much less interesting than the discussion about whether or not you should play a weak, suited ace under the gun in level 3.

Yes, anyone who plays poker regularly has had a horrific run and lost all or most of their bankroll at one time or another. But this little leak isn't helping.

If you limp with A-9 UTG, you will have to fold to a raise. If you flop an Ace, you don't know if you like your hand. Think about that for a second- do you really want to play a hand out of position with which you will have to fold every time you are raised and with which you will have a difficult time playing if you flop an ace? But the worst part about Ace-medium suited is the large number of flops that can "kinda" hit your hand: 9 high, 3 babies with a diamond, any diamond draw, etc. These are all marginal situations, which is not the kind of situations you want to be in while out of position.

PLUS, you broke the cardinal rule of bad beat stories: never post a bad beat where you don't have aces or kings. Otherwise, somebody will tell you that you shouldn't have played the hand in the first place.
