View Full Version : Meet WSOP Champ “Fossilman” at the Bike Wednesday, August 25th!

In honor of long time favorite 2+2 poster and WSOP No Limit Champion Greg “Fossilman” Raymer, the Bicycle Casino is hosting an informal party on Wednesday, August 25th in The Grill (the restaurant/bar nearest the tournament area) from about 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Snacks and other goodies will be served (usually we do a nice spread in The Grill).

Executive Casino Host Robert Turner asked me to get an email/interest list of 2+2 types that might want to attend. We aren’t using tickets but I’ll use the list to gauge interest and to prioritize entry into The Grill in case we are flooded with Fossilman admirers. Greg has indicated he will be available for chat, autographs, pictures and so on and may be able to play a bit later (he is traveling with his family and probably will have some jet lag so don’t count on any real late night games with Greg, at least on Wednesday /images/graemlins/grin.gif).

If you are interested in attending, email me (check my 2+2 profile for my email address) and paste “I want to meet Fossilman at the Bike!” into the title so I can distinguish your email from the numerous loan offers, erectile enhancement ads, and Nigerian money laundering scam email I normally get /images/graemlins/smirk.gif. I’ll respond with an email saying something simple, perhaps “See you there, Regards, Rick” (email before 3:00 pm PST on Wednesday). Print my reply and bring it with you. It will act sort of like a ticket in case there is mass hysteria (you never know with these “no limit celebrities” these days /images/graemlins/grin.gif).

Anyway, all are invited and if you have a chance, give our newly expanded and remodeled no limit section a try.

Regards,

Rick Nebiolo

PS Don’t bother asking Greg for a loan – Greg advised against loaning money in a casino years ago in a 2+2 thread.

PPS We had a new supply of the Ed Miller book in our gift shop when I looked yesterday. Get them while they are hot! (Maybe this postscript will keep Matt Sklansky from deleting this post, since it is sort of an advertisement).

PPPS A mysterious former 2+2 celebrity and friend of Greg Raymer will also be in attendance for those of you that remember the “good old days”.

Since Raymer is writing a book for 2+2, I wouldn't worry about it.

BTW, do people think Greg Raymer should be called.

1. WSOP Champion

or

2. World Poker Champion

I prefer #2.

I'll take a wild stab at guessing who the "mystery guest" will be....

Please tell "VL" that I still have his sunglasses and he still hasn't told me where to send them.....

Also let him know that his name popped up in conversation with Annie & Nikki the other day...

Nikki (my 14 year old daughter) asked when we're going to see the old bastard again. Her quote was something like..... "I like Vince....he's COOL!"

If you're lurking out there, how about a response?

I think QuadNines was Mark Glover's username on RGP. His editor (if one exists), remains a mystery.

Vince needs an editor, and those that need an editor shouldn't edit. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Rick:

There was a small chance I could make it over, but now it looks like I can't. Greg's a great guy and a deserving WSOP champion. Hope every one has a great time.

Best wishes,
Mason

Who is Phil?

In any event, Greg Raymer is such a top player and has his head on so straight (meaning he won't get in bad games for ego reasons) that I would bet my life he will have more personal wealth a year from now then he does now.

I wouldn't say that about any other WSOP Final Event NL Champ except perhaps Dan Harrington.

Thanks Mason. I'll pass your good word on to Fossilman.

BTW, in case you missed it the other five or six times I and a few others have suggested it would it be possible to clearly label this the "Poker/Gambling News, Views, and Gossip Forum" so my shilling for the Bike won't get mixed in with all these references to porn /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't see why this can all be accomplished in one post, let alone needing two forums. The Bike's cocktail waitresses are wonderful and many of us would appreciate it if you could work with this idea.

Rick,

Say hello to mystery guest for me, and tell him to email me next time he heads back to Massachusetts. Let him know that M has lost the bet, too.

BTW, my phone's been out for a few days, and I've had to do a few extra things at school the past few days. Sorry I haven't had time to answer your email yet, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

If you can get that old reprobate to e-mail you, you're a much better man than I.....

Yeah, it has to be Phil Ivy, who is world class in big ring games and tournaments.

Anyway, it was late at night and for some reason I was thinking "Helmouth" (perhaps shameless self promotion has a subliminal effect).
