Thanks Guys.

I wish all of the 107 people who e-mailed for the password had been able to play. Maybe they can the next time.

As this seems to be an about every three months event, look for another one maybe early November.

41 16 joboo002 (Midlothian), NA

Im glad North America won, but next time, I may not be there to carry you guys. I'd like all my teammates to pick it up.

In all seriousness, this was a great tourney, and even though I was totally out of my league, I enjoyed every minute of getting my ass kicked.

Nice work Doc!!
That was my first 2+2 event in some time and it was excellent.
I don't think I saw a PF limp past level 2.

I would just like to point out a few Canadians helped out the NA team (most notably Eder, who lives in Canmore, Alberta which is also know as Paradise), so please keep the USA, USA, USA chants to a minimum please /images/graemlins/grin.gif

NA!! NA!! NA!!

If you didn't play in this tourney, I just have to say it was a very good experience, and was also very instructional.
I know that my game is not good enough to beat alot of these guys/gals day in and day out, but its nice to know that you can beat a few of them on any given day. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
If you didn't play you should check out the next one.

I look forward to the next one, and will try to make more SnG's.

regards,.

I thought the level of play was fantastic and it was a pleasure to play in the tourney. Thanks Doc for setting it up.

Here is an explanation of the team points. As I indicated in a previous post, placing highly counts heavily in this scoring system. Byron almost pulled it out for the European team. The NA team outscored the EU team heavily in total points, partly because there were almost three times as many players. The balanced scoring formula gives the smaller team an equal chance.

Code:

1688 p total available points
40 x number of players team NA
15 y number of players team EU
1226 d actual score team NA
440 e actual score team EU
56 t total number of players

Final Team Points:
NA = pyd/(yd+xe)
863= 1688*15*1226/(15*1226 + 40*440)

EU = pxe/(yd+xe)
825= 1688*40*440/(15*1226 + 40*440)

You are absolutely correct. I almost chimed in when that happened once. Viva Les Canadiens.

Todd,
We had a great time on Poker Stars as we always do.

The tournament drew 56 players. We had hoped for more, but consider the event a great success. 107 people sent in for the password, although not all could play on the given date. The indications are that we can reasonably expect a bigger turnout the next time.

Here is the list of final table players. I have sent them an e-mail requesting that they make sure their mailing addresses are registered on Poker Stars.

I am sure Byron Kincaid will appreciate the $100 Tournament Dollars.

I had a great time, thanks Doc for organising a great tourney. The standard of play was very high. As a consolidation, I was sandwiched between Byron and AcesOver8s for the majority of the tourney, so I got to see some exceptional poker. Thanks all.

Thanks Doc - you organise a goood tourney man. I've been running pretty bad recently so hopefully this will kickstart my return to good form.

How did I win? Easy all you have to do is get good cards at just the right time /images/graemlins/cool.gif.

My GF has never shown much interest in poker before but she sat next to me when we were down to two tables and after a couple of minutes she was shouting at the screen just as loudly as I was. Maybe 2+2 will have a new poster soon.

I hardly ever play MTTs (maybe I should try some more) but the one thing I did notice is that some people seemed to panic a little bit too early and throw all their chips in with 75o. I think you can be more patient in a MTT than a 1TT. All just IMHO of course.

GG everyone, cya next time.

its a shame i couldnt make the game, next time.

although we may have lsot on points, its a great feat that team EU won the top spot.

ive also noticed a few playing in the game ive notes on, its perhaps a great testament to this forum that they have tough, dangerous or words to that effect written about them.

I second everything... Expecially the part about patience - and never giving up. Chip and a chair and all that.

I was extremely lucky as well - got great cards at just the right time (except the last time /images/graemlins/grin.gif). A few gutsy calls and one race that I won. I *am* pretty proud of my stats on the tourney:

252 hands played and saw flop:
- 6 times out of 36 while in small blind (16%)
- 9 times out of 38 while in big blind (23%)
- 16 times out of 178 in other positions (8%)
- a total of 31 times out of 252 (12%)

Pots won at showdown - 8 out of 12 (66%)
Pots won without showdown - 24

So see boys and girls - you don't have to play a lot of hands, just the *right* ones.

The quality of a tourney is determined by the quality of the players and the quality of the play, not the size of the prizes. The reason the WSOP final event is so good is not the $5M, but is that everybody knows that all the really good players will be there.

That is why we invited all of the regular 2+2 SNG bunch to this.

That is why we invited all the old hand, Carpel /'Tunnel, and Pooh Bah members of 2+2.

That is why we told the strangers, newbies, and lurkers that this is an educational opportunity you can't afford to miss.

All I did was set up a venue for the good players to get together and have a fun afternoon (or evening for the EU gang). It was the players that made this a good event. And posts like yours about the quality of play are what will help make it an even better event the next time.

Also make people like me who barely made it into the second hour feel better about their questionable play and lousy run of luck.

210 hands played and saw flop:
- 2 times out of 26 while in small blind (7%)
- 4 times out of 27 while in big blind (14%)
- 9 times out of 157 in other positions (5%)
- a total of 15 times out of 210 (7%)

Pots won at showdown - 7 out of 8 (87%)
Pots won without showdown - 12

So less than 11% of pots won again. I think I should be stealing a bit more. Although my cards were not great so maybe just stick with it.
