Hi, I'm new here and have a few questions about depositing money.

Is Neteller the best way to deposit money?

If you use a credit card is the transaction considered a cash advance or a purchase?

Are there any issues with using a visa debit card?

Thanks
BTW I am planning on using party poker.

If you ONLY plan on playing Party then Neteller brings no additional benefits. But you'd be silly to only play Party imho. Sure, it's the best site most of the time, but bonuses and happenings make many other sites worth a visit.

So get Neteller.

If there is a problem with the Visa card it's because your bank has banned online gaming purchases. Lots of banks do this. I only know one person whose main card was banned (by the bank) from making a Neteller deposit.

Is there another good transfer service to use besides NeTeller? Apparently they don't deal with the state that I live in.

I had no problem opening a Neteller account but making a deposit is a different story.
I tried both Visa and Mastercard and they were declined. When I called Neteller about it they said that most credit card companies in North America will not allow the cards to be used in online banking.
So ok lets use the old checking account. No can do there because my wife already registered that account with Neteller and they only allow an account to be used once. So now I have to go open another checking account.
Not blaming Neteller here just posting to say it isn't always a smooth process.

Why don't you use your wife's neteller account?

We want to keep our poker bankrolls seperate and I assumed that if I tried to register the same Neteller account at the same poker site under a different name it would probably not let me. I know we could use the same poker site account but then hand tracking and such would be all messed up.

On Party, IGM-pay works just as well as Neteller IMO. However, I don't know of any other sites that use IGM. I have both because I started on Party w/ IGM, but then got Neteller for other sites.

Does Neteller take a % of your deposit or does the whole %100% go in? Thanks!

If you use their instacash process they charge 8.9%.
If you have a credit card that will allow it they charge you the fee that the credit card company charges them.
If you use the electronic fund transfer which is supposed ot take ,4 to 6 business days I think, there is no charge.
I just did that today and plan to use my waiting time to practice at the free tables and start re-reading WLLH.

LuckyDog, I'm curious as to how big a bankroll (in big bets) you plan to start with. I've been mostly playing in live casino, but realize I can probably do better for cheaper online. Much of what I've read suggests 300 BB, which is what I'll probably do, but do need to wait a month or two to have this bankroll.

Neteller will also let you register a savings account, too, as long as it is capable of electronic fund transfers. Check with your bank. I didn't like the idea of anyone having access to my checking account, so I set up a special savings account to use just for this purpose. Works like a charm. I forget who asked, but credit card transactions are alwasy cash advances, so beware of higher interest rates, etc.

I deposit cash into Neteller's Bank of America account at our local BoA branch office. Fax Neteller a copy of the deposit slip along with your account info and the money shows up in your account in a few hours.

This is what I did. I did this at BoA and put my BR in there so that NeTeller could not touch my main account (which is at a totally seperate bank). There is a BoA brach next door to work so it is super easy to deal with.
