This is the fourth hand of a $50 Stars. I posted a hand a few days ago much like this but I had TPTK and the response was an overbet like this screams flush draw. So here I read him for a flush draw and call his all-in. Good play? Thanks for all your help I have a money finish and a final table finish in my last three MTT. I owe it all to you guys.

The first thing I do on this flop is bet enough that if the other player is on a flush draw they are not geting good odds. If you bet 120 at a 150 pot, any flush or straight draw is going to call. You need to bet more than twice what you did. If you bet 250, he still gets 440-250, or almost 1.8 to 1 and just enough to call with a flush draw. If you bet 300-350 you ruin his odds. Many players in these low buy-in tournaments are still going to call, but you are forcing them to make a mistake.

If you are still in your spot because you underbet the flop, I probably call all-in putting this player on AQ or a straight/flush draw. You are getting good odds on your call. There is a possibility that he has a set and puts you on a flush draw due to your small bet, but this won't happen very often.

Thanks for the response; I will bet more next time I face this situation. Obviously he made his flush and I am at 410 in chip after four hands of a $50(the most I had ever played was 5.50) and ready to smash the computer on the road out front. However, I took two hands off and came back to place 68th out of 388; no money but I gave myself a chance. Thanks again to everyone who posts. I have learned and continue to learn ALOT.

Be careful here, don't overbet the pot by too much. You don't want to scare KQ, AQ QJ away here. Don't play scared. BTW, I'm more liable to raise more than the pot out of position than having position. Anything is tough to play out of position and it costs chips to define your hand. Good job getting your chips in as the favorite. Flushes get there 35% of the time, although it seems like 100% sometimes right??

That is all,
