View Full Version : Casino de Montreal

Hello, i was wondering if anyone knows about this casino. I would like to get away for a few days with a buddy of mine and we are going to head out to Canada. Luckily for me, and unluckily for him there is a casino called Casino de Montreal out there, I was wondering what type of Poker games they have out there. We are both big fans of Limit Hold'em.

Is there anything I should be aware of such as new rules or anything??

How long is the wait to get into a game?

What limits are played?

Is Hold'em their biggest game?

Do they have a big/small poker room?

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!

Hi Mikey,

I was up there last summer visiting Montreal and there is no poker in the casino. Unless you count "Let It Ride"

Mikey, No real Poker in Montreal. You have to go to Askesawsne (not sure of the spelling) in upstate New York (About 1 - 1 1/2 hours) from Montreal to play Poker.

The Casino is very nice though (lot's of beautiful Montreal women), and if you're so inclined don't miss the SUper Sex club on St Catherines street.

If you don't have a hotel room yet book fast, Montreal fills up for th eentire summer. It is the greatest city to visit in the summer time.

As a Montrealer, there is sadly no poker at our casino, although I'm working on it.

Like David said, the closest is the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, at about 1h15 from Montreal.

And I don't know about the "loose" part, but them ladies out here are as pretty as they come...

Have a good time!

Mikey,

The Akwesasne casino has hold'em events the final Sunday each month and 7- card stud the first or second Sunday. Yesterday, I rang them for info on the hold'em tournies, but got little.

I should mention that the website doesn't really

offer help beyond the dates of the upcoming events.

Nicolas,

I didn't realise you were a Montrealer. I grew up there but left in 1983 for Toronto. My family still lives there. In fact my kids are in St Lazare right now with my sister in law.

So where do you play? How does a Montrealer get into tournament Poker??

David,

I play a lot on the net.

We have underground games and private clubs.

We also have a private tournament league where we compete for a championship.

Also, I frequent the Akwesasne casino and the Foxwoods casino.

I can tell you about the hold em tournament. Everybody starts with T200 after a $50 buy in. If you get below T200 you can get a rebuy of T100 for $20, three rebuys max. Last tournament there were about 84 people there. They are not having the tournament in the poker room next time because it was very crowded it will probably be in the showroom or someplace like that. The tournament starts at 1:00. The limits increase really weird. They don't go by time, they go by rounds which is very confusing. I wish they would change it. The limits start at 5-10 and increase in amount slowly. There is no money taken by the casino out of the entry fees or rebuys. Hope this was helpful.

There are a few home games in Montreal if I recall... you can check on the Pokerpages forum for details.

Also, if you are looking for a strip club where the strippers do a bit more, go to the Grand Prix. I hear they have these little rooms with vaccuum pipes to take away used condoms... almost like it never happened.
