My question is actually largely irrelevant to this hand but it got me thinking.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (10 handed)
saw flop|saw showdown
UTG (t2166)
UTG+1 (t4122)
UTG+2 (t9643)
MP1 (t14664)
Hero (t1660)
MP3 (t4481)
CO (t11517)
Button (t1897)
SB (t5685)
BB (t12607)
Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/club.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 raises to t800, MP1 calls t800, Hero raises to t1660 (All-In), MP3 folds, CO folds, Button calls t1660, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 raises to t2520, Button calls t237 (All-In).
Flop: (t7477) K/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 9/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players, 2 all-in)
Turn: (t7477) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif (3 players, 2 all-in)
River: (t7477) 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players, 2 all-in)
Final Pot: t7477
In this example MP1 was on a pseudo steal and pot committed given the size of the stacks, but if he was in a calling position would you ever really want to be the 3rd all in caller with the typical all in hands (mid/high pocket pair A picture) excluding AA & KK and similar stack size?
If you assume (pretty big assumption granted) that one of your opponents has a mid pocket pair and the other has aceface:
If also have a pocket pair:
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV

Qs Ad 498866 36.39 868106 63.33 3782 0.28 0.365
If you also have an Aceface

Qs Ad 441601 32.22 895475 65.33 33678 2.46 0.334
Which would say to me that with three fairly balanced stacks you should only be the 3rd person going all in when you have AA, KK or QQ?
