View Full Version : 1 Year and Thank You

I'm gonna keep this quick, b/c it's hard to keep up with the pace of play at my Pacific table.

One year ago yesterday I deposited $100 into my newly opened Party Poker account. I had just come back from visting my friend at Cornell and stopped by Turning Stone on the way home. I lost $50 playing $1-$3 spread limit and I was determined to do better online. I had read WLLH, and I thought I knew what I was doing.

In the span of a year I've turned that $100 roll to almost $10,000, plus a few withdrawls. I've learned so much and become so much better at poker b/c of these boards and I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me. I don't need to name names, but some of you have been a HUGE help, so thank you. If you've ever posted a reply to a thread of mine, thank you.

I've become a lot better, but I've also learned how little I really know, and how much more there is for me to learn.

So thanks, and here's to another profitable year for everyone.

Well, no problem - i do what I can, because providing useful analysis on hands is not something I am good at, rehashing embarassing details about posters is the next best option.

josh, you need to fix your ADD, I don't even know how you pull off 3.5+ in Columbia - my grandma has a better memory than you.

Wow, nice little roll you've built yourself there. How often are you playing if you don't mind me asking?

BottlesOf
08-19-2004, 06:34 PM
It varies a lot. For most of the year, not that much. Now, I'm playing more, like 20 hours/week, 2-4 tables. I had an awful July, and August is relatively flat, so we'll see.

I would like to be playing higher by the year's end.

That's excellent for 20 hrs/wk.

what was the most amount of hours you played during one month? Did you start out single table? Then two...then three...?

I could be really off, if those numbers work out to an insanel good win rate, then I def. am. Bonuses also help the roll a lot.

Congratulations Chris and be careful playing shorthanded O8.

BottlesOf

I definitely started at 1, then added another, and then jumped all around, which I still do.

Most hoours in a month? Tough to say, maybe 300 table/hours?

Oh, no, I haven't worked it out or anything. I'm not trying to doubt you. I'm jealous, if you must know. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That's ideally how much I'd like to play (and win).

Josh,
Can you explain the logic for having 300BB in bankroll? Shucks, I'm like Chris and wanted to start w/$100, but everyone says you need 300BB. Is it so you can play when you have the action or what?
Thanks,
David

Here's my 2 cents:

I've had 150 BB swings several times @ Party. And I imagine others have had worse.

The 300 BB rule is there because you can having losing streaks that big. It is rare but possible. At 2-4 though your bank roll is easily replentishable so the risks of taking a shot with a small roll aren't that big. You can always rebuy.

$100 is too little unless you get lucky or are willing to rebuy multiple times.

BottlesOf

Ok, i need to set this straight, b/c it's driving me nuts. I knew exactly who I was responding to at that time. I wanted to say something to each of you, but I didn't want to post 2 replies and hijack my own thank you thread, but now I have no choice, b/c I have to explain this and stop the madness. /images/graemlins/blush.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I thought so, but I have been exploring the online betting world, and have seen this recommendation often. So your ribbing him just inspired me to ask the question.

MrHorace
08-21-2004, 04:19 PM
Thanks. I guess the point is that with a big enough bankroll you don't have to keep replenishing, and can qualify for the biggest bonus.
Anyhow, you've convinced me to wait and join the internet gambling world when I have the 300 BB bankroll.

MrHorace
08-21-2004, 04:22 PM
It makes sense. Thinking about my B&M experiences I guess it would be costly to keep replenishing for Internet gambling, costly in that one would probably miss a lot of bonus $$s.
So, I guess I'll wait until I get my 300 BB before I venture out into online play.
