View Full Version : pokerchips.com chips - a practical question

I realize after reading some threads on pokerchips.com's seeming lack of customer service and their tendency to delay orders months at a time that I might run into some troubles when placing an order and keeping track of it, but my order wouldn't be the typical 2-tone w/ custom art inlay order rather, I really can't stand the cheapness of most poker chips today I own a set of the dice 11.5g and I can't STAND them. I've had samples of the real clay chips that companies such as pokerchips.com sells and I am adamant to have my own set. I don't really need custom artwork, as 1) it's far too expensive, and 2) I don't really have anything particularly interesteing to put on them.

Here's my thoughts:
Just place an order for a set of chips that are plain w/ edgespots, it runs 50 cents a chip which is within my means, but does anyone think that they'll end up giving me the same treatment seeing as how I won't be needing any artwork done or a lot of proofs before production? Basically will it be another 9 month process or would the lack of artwork expedite the process?

Before I get a lot of replies saying the 13g casino inlay chips are fantastic, I realize this - that'll be my backup plan if I can't swing this initial one. /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

My only experience with them: Email correspondence and a sample request.

Result: Fairly quick email response, but I've asked TWICE for the samples and they have still not shown up, it's been many weeks. Their answer to that: "Unfortunately, we sometimes have samples removed from the mail system as people think they are acutal casino chips worth somethin in Vegas."

Did you end up placing an order or are you still waiting for some samples before you make a commitment?

By that time I had already decided to go with Chipco, who has given me the best service. A lot of us here are "going in" on an order to save on all the art fees, which were considerable. We've over 6000, and trying to get to a 10,000 order to hit another price break point.

When I asked for samples via email, I got them within 1 week. I found them to be nice to talk to and they do get back to you fairly quickly, but it did take 3 months to get the chips.

Back in January, I ordered 900 chips with custom color/edge spot combinations. Though I ran into several delays- one they told me was an equipment malfunction- I got my chips without major incident. It took 5 months, however.

I think? that the industry was a big overwealmed at the start of this year with demand. It seemed as if someone would post about every big company complaining about problems. I don't know if things have gotten better or not.
