This may be the dumbest question ever, but I just gotta ask...

When I started out at Stars $.05/$.10 tables, I just auto-posted blinds and jumped right in without waiting for the Big Blind (hell, it's only a nickel).

Once I moved up to $.25/$.50 (now at $.50/$1.00), I stopped auto-posting and will now wait for the BB before I enter the game. A quarter (or 50 cents) just seems like a lot just so I can play "right now." So my stingy little self prefers to wait. It also gives me some time to evaluate the table. Do most people do this, or is it the other way around?

Anyway, the above wasn't my real question (sorry, I tend to wander, both mentally and physically).

When I am playing, I figure I paid for a full orbit with the SB/BB, and will play until the BB comes to me again if I feel I want to leave. Sometimes (maybe all the time, that's why I'm asking), I swear I will check my account balance after I leave and I'm one BB less than I thought I was! Since I don't auto-post anymore (but I'm still very quick, so please don't think I'm one of those people who delays the game for everyone else), when the BB comes back to me, I get the choice to "Post" or "Sit Out" (at Stars and Party).

If you choose to "Sit Out," do you still get charged the BB? Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, and I hope that it is, but any confirmation from you wonderful people here at 2+2 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've actually noticed the same thing last night at Pacific Poker, but I was only SB short. I went through the help pages and couldn't find the answer. Would be interesting to find out. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

i use auto-post when I'm playing, but uncheck it when I'm about to stop - I know at party, they DO NOT charge you an extra SB when you sit out.

Good to know, thanks.

Another reason I don't have auto-post on while I'm playing is because I mulitable. Sometimes, with so much going on when I'm playing, I fail do notice that a table is clearing out, and if I'm auto-posting, all of a sudden it's me against 1, 2 or maybe 3 players, and I want to leave to find a more populated table, and don't want to pay the Big Blind right before I leave (talk about a run on sentence lol).

Good move waiting for the BB when you sit down. I do the same thing both online and in BM games. I hate to miss out on any free hands. My normal session is around six hours at the casino playing 3/6 limit w/ blinds of 1/3. This game costs me $4 per orbit, ~3 orbits per hour for six hours = ~$72 a session in blind money. Now suppose I play 100 sessions this year and I never wait for the BB to come around before I take a hand. Say I miss out on an average of 3 "free hands" per session. At the end of the year I've missed 300 "free hands" at .40 ea. costing myself $120.
Just something to think about.

If there are 9 other players in a full ring game, and you're the 10th, then you want to buy-in at the CO seat. This is the "best bang for your buck" strategy.

If there are less than 9 other players at the table, then buying-in at the BB is more cost-effective.
