Hello, I was just wondering if the minimum gambling age in California was 18 or 21. Thanks.

it depends on what casino you go to.

All the card clubs are 21+ to my knowledge. (i.e. Bay 101, Bike, Commerce etc.)

A few Indian casinos are 18+ - Viejas near San Diego, Chumash above Santa Barbara come to mind, and both of those places have reasonable poker rooms.

But, if you are lucky, you live in L.A., in which case Commerce is the place because they basically never card you unless you walk in with a sign that says "I AM NOT 21 YET" and even then you might not get a second look.

I have no idea. On a sidenote, I think the "legal age to gamble" anywhere in the US is technically 18. It's the fact that alcohol is served that makes most all casinos 21+.

Why is it that some casino/card clubs require you to be 21 because of the alchol served but you only have to be 18 where i play and they serve alchol.

I know in Arizona they let my daughter gamble ( she's 19) but freaked out when i bought her a drink....strange rules , you'd think age requirement would be same for everything /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I really don't know. My only point was that the casinos that opt to make the age requirement 21 are doing so because of alcohol, not a legal requirement related to gambling.
