That's why you need to raise preflop. Maybe he folds his Q8. Maybe he doesn't, and that's fine too. You want him calling your raises with junk like Q8, because then you make money off him the times he doesn't flop a full house, which will be almost every time.

When you flop top pair, it should actually make you happy to see a low/medium card paired on the board. Yeah sometimes it makes someon's trips and that sucks, but usually it doesn't and it means there are less srtaight and flush draws possible, which is good for your top pair.

BTW this guy cost himself money by playing it this way. He's gonna be broke quick if he plays Q8o and doesn't make more than this when he hits a miracle flop with it.

Preflop raise, everything else is good. If you have a super good read on the river raiser then I guess you can fold but there are certain aspects of poker that are more important than folding for one bet on the river when you have top pair/good kicker.
