I play with a bunch of friends in a home game at least once, if not twice a week. I'm certainly one of the better players there, but the success I had last week was incredible.

We normally play NL Hold'em, $3 max buy-in. I got to the party late from work, tossed my 3 bucks in and set to work. There were 6 other players there. Within 20 minutes, my stack was 8 bucks. After 2 hours of playing, I had built it up to $24. Of the seven of us there, I was the only one who had turned a profit. Four of the people lost at least their initial buy-in, while 2 bought back in several times.

I've only been playing for about a year. (Thanks Chris Moneymaker) I'm just curious what your greatest session in a short amount of time is. I imagine octupling your buy-in in 2 hours ain't too shabby.

I had a shorthand session of 2/4 the other day on crypto where I went up 35BB in ~30 Hands. I also first hand bought in for 40BB at 1/2 to take down a 45BB pot I got up and left after 3 more hands cause I realised I was running late for class.

I suppose the no limit game will have more stories but in limit poker at the 4-8 level in an indian casino. I once turned $100 into $800. It helped that twice I won kill pots where the stakes went up to 8-16. I haven't come close to that kind of night before or since.

We used to play a $5 buy in NL game with .25/.50 blinds (ridiculously huge blinds) in a home game. One night there were 8 players at the table, and a total of 19 buy ins on the table. (I only bought in once) I cahsed out every ship ont he table - $95. Up $90 which was 18 times my buy-in, and 180 big blinds in 2 hours.

my most recent greatest session wasnt due to the money i made but the time i cleaned everyone out in.

my friends have crazy rules. $10 buy in .25/.50 NL.

started with 7 people and every time someone gets knocked out, they raise the small blind a quarter.

i wanted to play, but had to leave in 1 hour to go somewhere. so i decided to just sit and play as a challenge to see how fast i can clean them up. they're all novice/beginner players.

45 minutes later i was out the door with alll their money.

i credit the help i got in conqeuring lose/passive games to the advice from people here actually. but it sure felt good to take them all down that quickly. (quick for me at least since im still only an ok player.

Bought if for for the $20 max buy-in at my home game and cashed out with $290.

Played $15/30 for 55 minutes and was up $630.

I like positive threads. We've had the "worse session" threads too many times already.

Most BBs won: 2/4 Commerce 84BB ~3.5 hours
Most $ won: 9/18 Commerce $1029 ~7.5 hours

Not very impressive although I wish they were more frequent!

I won 140 BBs in about an hour once playing one table of .05/.10, raising every hand every time on every street (and calling if betting was capped).

Man that was fun.

I just got back from New Orleans a few days ago. While waiting for a seat at the 10/20 HE game at Harrah's, I played 3/6 and made 22BB/hr, though I don't think it really counts since I was only sitting there for 30 minutes. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I made 170BB at $2/$4 full table on party in one 8 hour day. Single table too!

I just recently broke my all time record for profit in one day at the $15/30 tables. an even 100 bb!

My best session ever is picking up 100 big bets in my first hour of playing a live game at Foxwoods. That was UNBELIEVABLE where everything was hitting and we were getting three or four people to the river every hand. After that run, though, half the table went home and ... I think I picked up another few BB's in the next few hours. But 100 big bets in the first hour will be hard for me to beat -- just random example of God shining down on me for a brief (wonderous) moment.

I was playing a live 6/12 game at harrah's in New Orleans. This apparantly rich guy came in with a stack of 1K chips, and said and asked to make the game no limit. There were no objections, and then it began.

Blinds were 2-5 i believe, and i had about $400. Very first hand I get 88 and raise, rich guy calls. Flop is 8 high, i bet and he pushes all in. Double up. 3 or 4 hands later, I double through him again afater flopping a straight.

up $1500 in 30 minutes or so. This was early in my playing days and I was so afraid to lose it back I just left.

Live: 180 BB's in 12 hours at Foxwoods

Online: Not sure, but I did once win 50 BB's in the first 8 minutes of a 4-table session without winning a pot over 20 bets (and then proceeded to play some of the worst poker imaginable over the next few hours to log a big loss).

My best session is bittersweet because it was immediateley followed by my worst session. I buy in very short, only 2 grand, at paradise poker's 40/80 table. For those of you that play this game, you can vouch on how much it swings. Im sitting 6 handed, and within 4 hours im staring at 20 k. I should have left. Feeling the rush and utter feeling of domination i stayed around and had one of the most incredible bad beat sessions of my life. Within two hours my stack dwindled to 7 grand. By this time it is about 3 oclock in the morning, i turn off the computer, contemplate jumping off a bridge, and have one the most restless sleeps in my life. I took a break for two weeks after that session, and was fortunate to take down 1st place in a 700 man multi table tourney on party poker the week i came back, slightly easing the biggest swing of my life.

A couple weeks ago I had one of the biggest fish I've ever had the pleasure to play against sitting at my NL 200 max buy-in table at the Bike, and I was holding over him almost every hand. I broke him 4 times, and also broke a couple other people at the table. I finished up almost $2k in about a 2.5 hour session. As soon as that guy stood up I was gone.

Hi kyro:

In 1987, shortly after I moved to Las Vegas, I had back to back nights in the old Las Vegas Hilton poker room where I won over $2,000 each night playing $10-$20 hold'em. I never had a session at $10-$20 either before or since where I won this much.

By the way, Hold 'em Poker for Advanced Players was not published until late 1988. But the private notes which David and I had developed were completed by this time. It was a lot of fun to play in games where I had a good understanding of what was correct play and very few others did.

Best wishes,
Mason

Last week, I tripled up+ $25 in 15-20 minutes at Party on a $.50-$1.00 limit table. A maniac played 29 hands out of 30 (I'd love to know which one he folded...must have been disconnected) and raised 9 of them and at the same time, I had an amazing run of cards. It was pretty cool. That started a run where my BB/100 when from -2 at 1500 hands to +7 at less than 2000 hands.

Anyway, that was my best session so far. Unfortunately the maniac didn't buy back in after I busted him and the table broke up right after that.

I got dealt pocket kings 13 times in an hour in a 20/40 game at Garden City a few years ago. Before that, I was stuck almost 2000, and the game was completely crazy. All of my kings held up, and all pots were capped preflop. Several times an A flopped, and I somehow managed to see the showdown, and I was good. I didn't flop a single set, either with them. It was ridiculous, people were saying "what you have King's again?!?" when I raised preflop, and I said "of course!!!" They didn't believe me. Lol. I left a 4000 winner. Simply amazing.

At Party 1/2 6 max I was run over by the deck one night and made about 325BB in one night. Probably about 5-6 hours of 4-tabling.

Sorry to re-bump this thread... but I *just* finished a session that I don't think I'll be repeating anytime soon.

The best (and worst) part of the story is that in a session earlier today, I lost over $200 playing $2/$4 in only a matter of hours.

Anyway here goes:
- 4-tabling $2/$4 at Party
- 266 hands played in 1 hr 10 min
- won 10% hands; won 46% of hands for which I saw flop
** up $312 (78 BB)

(Highlights included straight flush, quads, and about 4-5 boats ...)
