Perhaps this is better relegated to an off-topic forum, not sure, but because it directly involves Las Vegas casinos i think it's appropriate for the B&M to discuss what kinds of entities we're dealing with.

Despite 2 Terror Tapes, No Alert Issued on Vegas, Memos Show (http://wid.ap.org/home1/storyhome1.shtml)

Not to be alarmist, but if the allegations here are true that casinos failed to alert the public because of economic well-being, i think that's disgusting. OTOH i can't deny that telling people the truth would have an effect on business. (If the airlines could ask for corporate welfare to cover their own mismanagement in addition to extraordinary 9-11 related losses, then surely the gaming industry could get a handout too. Good reminder why i'm Libertarian....)

Thoughts, anyone?

Yes. Why is it the casino's responsibility to evaluate captured terrorist documents and issue alerts and warnings?

It seems local government officials like the Mayor and Sherrif's Dept. was also kept in the the dark about these tapes by the FBI.

Shouldn't the Dept. of HomeLand Security be evaluating these threats and determining the risk levels?

Las Vegas has been on the terrorist radar for a long time. A lot of the 9/11 hijackers visted Vegas several times before 9/11. These tapes are just more evidence that they would like to hit 'Sin City'. In the meantime, the HomeLand Security Keystone cops are still searching airline passenger's shoes, and barricading buildings in New Jersey, based on three year old information.
