If your answer is 4 or more, please post with how long you've been playing online.

I've been playing for about a year. I play 3 $5/10, $10/25 or $25/50 NL games on UB and usually 2 or 3 $200 sit n' gos on PP.

I usually play 4, although I've played as many as 6. The main problem I have with playing more than 4 is not keeping up with the games, but screen real estate.

I've played online since February.

Usually 3 but sometimes 4, especially if I'm playing at Pokerstars where it takes forever to clear the bonuses. I've been playing online since last September.

i play 4 3/6 limit at party right now, and i'm almost getting bored with 4. when i drop to 3 sometimes it's really unbearably boring. i might expand to 6 tables soon, who knows.

usually play 4 tables, talk in IRC, surf the internet, watch tv, and talk on AIM.

oh yeah and destroy the games.

8 microlimit tables, have been playing online since Sep. 03.

4 is the norm. for me sometimes I go 6(4 ring/2 sng), I only have one monitor right now but that is about to change in a week.
I want to see what all this 8 tabling noise is about.

With 4 I also open up IM, a 2+2 window and another random IE window for whatever.

I have been playing online since Oct. 2002, but only seriously since Nov. 2003.

I've been 3-tabling since February 2004, started December 2003. I have a pair of 2001FP's now, so there's no shortage of screen should I wish to try more. I did try 4 tables of .50/1 on Party once, but it felt a little fast for me, and I felt like I was on autopilot with no time to ever think. Maybe at higher limits it would be a bit slower, as with Party .50/1 it seems like they give less time to act.

I do 3 tables of 3/6 on Party now, 2+2 and other websites, aim convo's, and IRC lurking on the other screen, but no TV.

Anywhere between 2 and 9, I only have 1 screen without 1600x1200 though so the screen can get quite crowded.

How long did it take for you guys to move beyond 1 table? I find that I play better if i'm concentrating on the table, taking notes on the players (nothing profound there) and watching for betting patterns. Not sure i could do this while playing 4 tables.

8 on two monitors. About 3 years.

I recently started playing 4 party tables. I had done 2 or 3 for a while, but there wasn't much difference for me between 3 and 4 so I added 1.

I've been playing online nearly a year.

sammy_g

If you want to add tables, start by adding just one. Get comfortable playing two. Only then add a third, and then add a fourth.

PokerTracker helps a lot with the note taking.

it was over a year of playing before i was good enough to win playing more than 1. it is still -EV for me to play more than 2 for some reason. i guess i have a touch of ADD because i cant JUST play poker online. i get bored. i play ABC poker and watch tv while multi tabling. at least once a week i go back to 1 3/6 table and do my best to comcentrate on the one game and get better as opposed to making money. i would like to play bigger and bigger games instead of playing more and more tables. of course if i was playing for a living id prob just ad more and more tables.

The max. I play is 4 at a time (like most of you)

How many of you would play more than 4, if they would easily fit on one screen without overlap?

OrangeHeat
08-10-2004, 02:11 PM
Usually 4 15/30 and 1-2 tourney tables (randomly SnG's or MTT). A 2+2 window, ebay window, Radeon TV, and one surfing window in the background.

I get bored easy.

I have a 17" monitor with Windows XP and can barely fit 2 tables with some overlap. How can I manage to add a 3rd or 4th table? Thanks.

I usually play 4 tables - 5-10 to 10-20 at mostly UB and party.Ive been playing fulltime online for 4-5 years or so.I also surf and deal with 3 kids at same time (which I dont recommend). In fact I'm playing 4 tables as I'm writing this....

UncleDuke

Lately I play 4 tables -- either 4 sngs or a couple of those and a couple ring games. I considered adding a 5th last night although that would require some screen toggling. Maybe I'll look into dual screens in a couple months if 4 tables starts seeming slow to me. Right now it still seems about right.

I've been playing online for about a year.

my big problem is putting in hours. in the 2 months after i graduated college i just didn't play at all. online poker bores me incredibly. but after a while i realized my cash flow is dwindling and i have to either play poker online or get a job. so for the past 2 weeks i've been doing like 1000 hands/day, 5 days/week. that's enough for me.

I play $1/2NL, and $2/4-3/6 limit.

I answered 2, because that has been my typical # for the past few months. I have been trying 3 lately, with the 3rd table being a tourny or PL Omaha. I think I may move to 3 soon. I have also done 4 on a few occasions, when trying to burn off a bonus.

4 tables if I'm playing full ring, 2-3 if I'm playing shorthanded (working on expanding this to 4, but I'm not sure if that's possible for me).

I've been playing for a little over a year and a half online.

9+ thanks to my dual monitor setup. I have two 20.1in LCD monitors. The first time I played online was about two years ago, but I probably averaged 1 hour per week until about 13 months ago when I started playing every day.

It's not playing the tables that I find so impressive (although I couldn't do it, especially at that level). Seeing that screenshot just gives me monitor envy. Looking at my 17" after that is just depressing.

I mean, look at the taskbar and he's got 26 different window open (by my count)! Not all poker, but still...

It looks like you are playing tournaments in that screen shot. Can you play that many ring games at one time?

4 is the most I've ever tried.

Lori
08-10-2004, 05:41 PM
It all depends on how many .5/1 tables Astroglide is sat at, I usually play all eight of them, plus a tourney for good measure to kill the time in between taking his LAG money.

I wanted to click on your pokerstars buttons when I opened up that url. Must have Stars sng's on the brain right now.

I play 4 usually - fits on the laptop screen - though I'll play up to 6, occasionally. Playing online since '99.

If I could fit them without overlap, I'd play 8-10 no problem...time to get the big new lcd, huh.

Newbie question. How do you guys play so many SnG's at one time? I could play 4 NLHE ring games at one time no problem (probably even more), but not so with SnG's. Whenever I have 2 tables in the money it gets pretty frantic. I find that when it gets shorthanded reads are a lot more important and that missing a read can easily cost me the tournement. I've only been playing Party SnG's exclusively for 2 or 3 monthes, so maybe I'll get better at it.

-aesic

Hiding

stagger the starts by 15-25 minutes, keeps the shorthand overlaps to a minimum. But I only play two at a time, so take it for what its worth

4 to 6. Answered 4 in your poll since that's my most common amount.

Been playing online frequently the past 22 months

Sponger15SB
08-10-2004, 11:53 PM
just wait until you get heads up at 3 tables at once, then you'll know what pressure is.

aesic
08-11-2004, 12:25 AM
Thats what I usually do Hiding. I start a new table every time another one is about to hit level 3, which averages 2 tables at a time, simetimes with a 3rd added in at the tail end of the 1st table.

Sponge, it isn't the "pressure" that gets to me, because you have plenty of time to make each decision since you can make the decision in less than a second. The thing is that I feel that if I don't pay attention to the tables, I won't be making the best decision because I don't have a read on the players. I feel that I need to pay more attention to SnG's than Ring games because of the importance of the shorthanded play and the importance each hand has at the end when people are going all in.

I think I do occasionally miss a read on an opponent in an sng because I play four at once, but I believe my expected extra return from playing more tables at once more than makes up for the slight drop in quality of play resulting from dividing my attention. My winnings are probably less than four times what they would be playing a single table, but they're still a lot more than they would be just playing one or two. I also think there's a positive aspect to playing several at once, which is it's easier to be patient and not make loose calls just to get some action since there's usually something going on at one table or another.

Ponks

I play 8 tables of 3/6 or 5/10. I learned how to play hold'em about 8 months ago and I've been playing online for about 7 months. Been playing 8 tables for about 3 months now.

Also I think I'm gonna try 12 soon, I know I can do it probably, but I only have a laptop with 1400x1000 resolution so a lot of buttons will be overlapping.

If playing:
- Limit HE - 2-3 tables, used to be mostly 2 but I've recently added the the third
- SnG's - at most 2.
- PLO8 - as many good $50 - $100 games as I can find (usually 1!)

i usually just play one at a time,i am not a very good board reader, especially when it comes to straights. i seem to get beat alot with a straight when i have top pair or two pair and i dont see the straight possibility on the board. so i have found it easier to just play one at a time. plus i find it easier to spot the bad players and i try to take advantage of them .I find this alot harder to do when playing two tables, and as far as you guys who play more than two at a time , i envy you . i just dont know how you can keep up
