View Full Version : 5k in a week.....

Not quite what you might think, my aim for this week is to play 5k hands - I believe setting goals at how much you win is not practical due to the huge short term luck factor. Whether I have a big winning or losing week my goal will remain the same.

For the last 8 weeks I have tracked my daily poker records, and looking at them I am averaging 13 hours of play in my cash games a week. This, bearing in mind I have tried harder than normal to get the hours in, is pathetic. So this challenge is just another way to try and get me motivated. I will post on this thread, I don't want to clutter the board with threads of low content. Although its not part of the actual quest I will post my daily results as there are pretty regular questions about the 15/30 games and their swings.

Day one was yesterday and....

Day one: 0 hands, $0.
Overall: 0/5000. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/blush.gif /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Oh well I'm behind the pace already!

Bad start, but you can do it in six days!

Cmon, 5K in a week? 5K in a weekend is a challenge. 5K in a week is a vacation!! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

David, you have the honour of being the recipient of my 4000th post! /images/graemlins/cool.gif /images/graemlins/wink.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif (4000 in a year is a bit nuts, I need to find something else to do in between playing hands!)

*I decided to not saying anything though to savour the landmark*

Are you trying to follow in the masked demon's footsteps with this quest?

Haha I remember Ulyquest now, didn't think of that.

Anyway...

Day 2: 299 hands, -$479.50
Overall: 299/5000

Got bored and decided to play Omaha instead, at least I'm off and running. 4701 hands in 5 days might be doable..

15/30.

EDIT: Or did you mean which form of poker? If so, they will be Holdem.

Tosh, best of luck with your quest. You were a big help with mine, even though I failed.

5K hands isn't tough, depending on how many tables you play.

Look forward to checking up on you.

Play well,

Do you work as well as play? 5k hands sounds like a lot to me, hope you can make it.

I meant the limit and player format (i.e. 6 max or full).

12K hands divided by 240 hands/Hr is 50 hours of play/week. Do you play more than 4 tables or short-handed? I cannot imagine playing holdem on a computer for 50 hours in one week. If that's truly the case, you have some remarkable concentration powers or must be inventing new ways to keep it fresh.
