I know that Ed talked about wasting out time broodiing over PF decisions and getting our post flop play right. I have had a situation come up a lot recently and I would like to get expert feedback on the correct play.

Party 3/6 or 5/10. I am in cutoff or button with a hand like 88. Folded to MP1 who raises with no notes or read on him. Folded to me. What is the correct play (especially absent of notes?) Fold, cold call and raise a non-broadway flop (don't think I want to give the big blind a 6-1 look, but not sure), 3 bet?

I know this is 101 stuff, but I am having a serious brain cramp on this and would like to put a standard play in the book.

Thanks,
Kevin

In this situation, if i'm seeing the flop, i'm 3 betting it.

I think bernie is right, but generally i would fold if raise was from first 3 positions....

Personally, I fold anything less than 99 here... I will cold call 99, 1010 and JJ (and maybe even QQ if I'm feeling like a wuss) and 3-bet KK/AA.

Just my pansy-ish opinion

you absolutely have to three bet jj-aa. no question.... your cold calling with QQ??? Completely wrong....

I know, I know... I should probably stop posting my opinions until I become more agressive, but I'm getting there!

Thanks for reminding me of my weak-tightness /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I AM 3-betting JJ and QQ about half the time now in these situations, but still have work to do (Aggression Factor up to 1.01)
