has anybody ever used this for anything ? anybody know if its a con or not ? It seems like the gurus want money just to explain what it is. I would like to hear any personal experiences good or bad.

If you buy into Tony Robbins, you buy into NLP.
It's a worthwhile study IMO. It will expand your self-awareness at a minimum.

Personally I like affirmations:

"I am a great poker player.
I make the correct decisions at the table.
W is a great President.
I play tight and aggressive.
Our anti-terror efforts are good for all of us.
I always play my A game."

Try it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

NLP is a serious over-hype of something totally legitimate. I have the books, yes. The authors go into elaborate explanations of the nuances of speech and how it affects behavior, others' behavior. Some of the stuff is good, some of it is indifferent, and most of it is common knowledge put together in a pseudo-scientific format.
