Here's a 5/10 hand from today. I'm doing this hand in two-parts. I will be posting a number of 5/10 and 10/20 hands from my weekend trip to the wood. SFer's full trip report (forthcoming) should be hilarious and embarassing for me /images/graemlins/grin.gif I think I have this hand right...

Here's the hand:

I get Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif 7 /images/graemlins/heart.gif in the SB

Unimportant EP/MP limps, guy who looks like Shaft limps in the CO-1. JoeTall limps on the button, I complete in the sb and BB checks.

Flop: A /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I check, BB checks, Unimportant checks, Shaft checks, Joe bets, I raise, folds to Shaft who 3-bets, Joe calls, as do I.

Turn: 7 /images/graemlins/club.gif [A /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q /images/graemlins/club.gif 3 /images/graemlins/heart.gif]

How do you proceed?

Check raise the turn

Are you and Joe dating now? Nice avatar.

WTF, I was at the 10/20 table for like 12 hours on Saturday. Wish I knew you guys were there.

hahahaha, NO! /images/graemlins/mad.gif

That's funny, I played 10/20 on Saturday night from like.....5pm to 1 am. I broke for dinner around...I don't remember someone will have to fill me in, but the games were RIDICULOUS. I mean, this 10/20 was the most profitable game I've ever played in. Period.

I was stuck a couple hundy before dinner, but after, I won like 550 in 90 minutes, I'd raise and get 7 cold callers, I mean, unreal. Who was at your table (describe), if you remember.

I doubt you were. I was by far the best player at the table and the only other decent guy was in his early 30's. By Joes description of you (youngish) I dont think it was you.

The games are unreal, and seem to be getting better each and every week.

EDIT: If for some reason it was you at the table, I am the guy who said "Word to your Moms" every time somebody over the age of 50 dragged a pot.

LOL!

No, wasn't there. SFer and DrSavage were in the other 10 game, I think there were only 3 10 games going. Next time.

He did look like Shaft but I can't you didn't call him the Hulk. He's clearly the Hulk and it's not even close.

There might have been another limper as I remember going to the flop at 6 SBS but that's no big deal.

What about your flop play?

Peace,
Joe Tall

I told JBB that these are the best games I've ever played and I stand by that.

Of couse I didnt put two and two togther. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

While no one could describe the NY club games as tough at the 3-6 or 4-8 limits, the Fox games at 4-8 and 5-10 (from my very limited experience) are much more passive as a general rule.

I've pretty much seen the same over the last 6 months, Taj, Woods, and Clubs in NYC (from the 4-8 to 10-20 limits) have been some of the juiciest games I have ever see.(including 2-4 Party).

Is AC similar to what is being described in Foxwoods? How were the rooms in Foxwoods? Price?

I think I will drive to AC or Foxwoods next weekend....

AC at lower limits, (Borgata/TAJ) is pretty ridiculous. At 10-20 though, you may see some pretty good players, but if you like 2-4 to 5-10, forget it...go and have fun. Both have "poker rates" but even then the rooms are about $100 or so, and thats dependant on hours of play (just like normal casino comps). If you live in NYC, take the bus down after cash coupon it's only about $11 bucks roundtrip, go there on a friday night around 9 or 10, (2 hr trip), play until the morning, and skip home...Also the guys in the B&M forums are the real experts (especially when it comes to the poker rates).

I played the 5/10 at the Taj from midnight to 7:30 a.m. on Friday night/Saturday morning. Unbelievable how loose it was, and how poor the players were.

At one point, there were two friends at my table who were giving each other nods, etc., when they had good hands. I would have said something, but they were terrible. (One of them 3-bets me pre-flop with T8o, and later with 64s; later, he says, "You have to do that to knock people out, it's the only way you can win at a table like this." Good point, I told him.)

Anyone play with me (there were only 2 or 3 5/10 tables going)? I'm a 22-year old kid, about 5'10", shortish brown hair. I was quiet the first half of the night, and outspoken the second half.

Anyone else rather just check/fold this flop? Three high cards with an Ace and the other two are diamonds makes me feel not very good about middle pair no kicker.

I would check/raise the turn as well but still don't feel to great about my two pair.

Finally someone says it.

He's knows I'd likely 3-bet him heads up. So can he call the 3-bet and a turn bet unimproved? I think not.

Peace,
Joe Tall

Yes, once I saw the flop, I was planning on check folding the flop, unless the action went favorably. When it checked to Joe, I thought I could raise and get it heads up with Joe who hopefully had a draw or might lay down a better queen. I did not think Joe would 3-bet with crap HU, or maybe I could trap some hapless soul to prevent this.

Perhaps I misjudged what the best play was. Wouldn't be the first time.

Anyone after calling the 3-bet I was just looking for an excuse to get out of the hand on the turn, then the 7 came and I was trapizzled.

TURN ACTION: 7 /images/graemlins/club.gif [A /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif]

I check, Shaft bets, Joe calls, I raise, Shaft 3-bets, Joe calls 2 cold, I call.

Ruh-roh

River is...I don't remember, a blank.

I check, Shaft bets, Joe folds, I call and don't expect to win.

Shaft shows down.....?????

(If you know, obviously don't say)

Between the flop and turn, the board changes. THe board on the flop is correct. The flop was A /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, and it DOES NOT change /images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'll tell you what I thought at that very moment.

Bottles has A7s and Hulk as 99.

I've played with the Hulk in the past for what that is worth.

I was getting slim odds but correctly calling getting like 11:2 on the turn. Slim but correct. Any guess on what I held?

Peace,
Joe Tall

Axd or JT.

EDIT: Not JTs. I think you raise limpers on the button there.

if anyone cares....

Shaft had AA which blew us all away.

He outplayed me worse than I outplayed Joe on the A7 hand. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
