because everyone had such excellent recommendations for tequila a couple of weeks ago, I figure y'all know how to take a vacation as well. so,

my fiancee and I are thinking beach, clear blue water, very private, that type of thing. ideas thus far have been somewhere in the south pacific, but that seems kind of far (we're on the east coast in the US). recommendations?

Since you are on the East Coast you could go to Malta, a small beautiful island nation in the Southern Mediterranean. Not only would that be fun, you could boat north to Sicily or West to Tunisia, in Africa. Thus you have some options to visit other unique and fun places, all with beaches galore and lots of history to boot.

Read up on the history, culture, and other topics of the place you visit before taking off, has this will add much to your enjoyment, no matter where you end up going.

My vote is for the seychelles off the east coast of africa in the indian ocean. It might be a bit expensive to get there but i from what i read it is well worth. If i ever get married that is where im going.

Hvar island off the coast of Croatia. You can rent a house with beautiful views of the Adriatic for about 40$ a night. It's a little far too, but you'll have the crystal blue water, privacy, romantic setting. Look up some pictures on the internet.

Yes! The Dalmatian coast is a great bargain. The only problem is that language may be factor. Croatia caters mostly to European travellers, especially Germans. I found that not too many spoke English. I didn't worry though, my wife is Slovene, and those languages are nearly identical.

There are many islands to choose from.
