Anyone else make this play?
Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif. CO posts a blind of $5. MP2 posts a blind of $7.
Hero raises???

It's a good raise. Usually I limp in EP with 8s but the extra dead money would swing it into a raise for me as well. Also, many people's SOP is to raise 8s from EP.

If this were a live game, Id say this is a great oppurtunity to advertise.

But its not. I fold unless you have found one of those beautiful limpy passive tables

I'd be more inclined to raise at a tight table, if the table is loose then i'm definitely limping.

This is ludicrous, you do realize he has pocket 8's right?

Folding is absurd.

It was actually a tight passive table I should have included that in the original post. Not a whole lot of Preflop raising but some steal attempts. I almost never raise EP with wired 8's but I thought this a good a time as any with the posters.

I agree I see no reason to fold at all. Could you tell me your reasoning behind a fold I don't think I am getting it.(Not sarcastic)

I like the raise. I ususally raise 88 FI. NEVER open fold 88

I'd be more inclined to raise without posters than I would with posters.

Why is that? Better chance it will be shorthanded? I guess you're right...posters seem to defend more rigorously than blinds.

And if they defend, they have position on you.

I think both situations call for a raise.

I agree. The extra dead money is going to make calling your preflop raise more attractive....or so it seems to me.
