/images/graemlins/blush.gif confusing, but in general...

conservatives feel people themselves should work out their problems and handle their own financial, social, and religious matters.;

as opposed to liberals who feel the individual has to rely on big government to make necessary changes, redirect finances to more worthy causes, direct social policies to ensure equal treatment, and deny that religion exists (with regard to government.)

as scalf sees it..

Pretty good description, scalf.

The common meaning of "Liberal" has apparently turned about 180 degrees from the original meaning of "Liberal".

"Liberal" today actually means to favor control and interference for certain select causes.

How perverse, since neither the original political meaning of the term, nor the English language meaning of the term, has anything to do with such directed interference, control and use of force.

The term "Liberal", as it is used politically today, is actually quite a misnomer.
