totally sober, and 7th out of 25th left in a 10 buck Pokerstars tourney....

Tourney 2220516 on Pokerstars...first place 3 grand....4 big stacks on my table who love to mix it up....crap

I'm gonna print out a hand for hand transcript and run it by the MTT forums...certain hands I'm wondering about...

I'm taking a week off with no pay in a week, so the $1700 will REALLY come in handy....couldn't be better timing -

and if I'm really lucky, I might get back together with the GF, get off the booze, and actually say to hell with manic-depression....but I may only pull off one or two of those...

big thing now is to withdraw the money before I spend it in a $2500 tourney....LOL -

that may be my best finish ever too...a field of 1220 - largest field I've done that well on.....may be my best cash finish as well - think my live game record was 1300...

2nd in a huge field(800+) is impressive. Congrats on the nice win. Also gl luck with your RL decisions. <butting into issues that are clearing not my concern. So, please forgive me)> I see that you're working on your problems with booze, with some back-sliding if I read right. That you would like your former gl back, who you care for, but you guys have conflict on a regular basis.

Does SHE drink regularly?

If the answer is yes, then it will be hard to get her AND stop drinking. It's almost impossible for co-dependents to break out of their disfunctional cycle.

My biggest problem with drinking, I'm over 30 days sober, is fighting my need to drink when Lesley and I are arguing. I have been trying to quit completely for about 5 months now. My poker game results show that this lifestlye choice has been +EV. My relationship game results are HUGE +EV with the change.

Some days it would really would be nice to have a glass of wine about 5:00-6:00pm. It also really sucks to admit to oneself that there is a problem in this area when so many have zero problems.

Now, that I see how much I've written OT, a PM may have been better. I'm going to leave this as a post for all the new young guys to show that it helps to close lifestyle leaks, along with the poker ones. You just have to decide when.

yah....it's a different GF - only a couple months old, but if she has a problem with my life, I'm not gonna worry about it. Not like the one two yrs ago where it put me on tilt for about a year..

and I know she was hesitant about poker - but you know how that changes after a big win

I'm already past the detox phase...now I gotta enter the psychological phase...but my struggles with that crap are well documented on here. This time, though I'm actually going thru some of the psychological tools needed to grind thru it.

Seriously though Whiskey, great to see you taking care of yourself, keep it up.
I remember the sober(ish) $22 Para SNG days and you were top notch back then, get that state of mind back and you'll have enough cash to keep your mind off other things /images/graemlins/wink.gif

OBSERVATIONS!!!!

1. - I got lucky with AA at least 6 times (though only got action with 3 of them) - that's a very high stat for 380 hands when it should be 1 in 216 - anyone know what the odds are of that?

2. I have a bad habit of going all in post flop rather then getting outplayed/bluffed afterwards...or maybe not - it nearly burned me once, but ya know...it just kept working....

3. having a Gus Hansen player on your left slows you down a LOT - and that's probably good -

4...great stats -

380 hands played and saw flop:

5. this is gonna be tuff to duplicate - don't often get AA 6 times in a tourney, flopping trips twice to the case A in the other hand....I got lucky...but I felt it was right to WAIT to get lucky, as opposed to just stealing and praying...know what I mean?

I just have terrible luck with JJ. It seems like I either double up or go home. Going home happens more often. If you get called you are in pretty deep trouble. I'll be interested to see the pro's comments.

Yah...the decision not to include positiion was primarily cause nearly everything I mucked the first hr was irregardless of position. (I don't like to start stealing until mid tourney anyways) - and while position is important to me in NL, being first to act is more so.

I hate to say it, but my main reason for reraising all in with JJ was that TheBeat was my raiser and opponent.

that's Pete Gioridano (sp?) - and he is the number ONE tourney player on stars this year going by the TLB.

I also noticed he had tightened up considerably when I sat with him...THUS, I felt I either had to go all in or muck -

and if your a pro and make a semibluff, and a tight player comes over the top of you, what will you do? - even with 10's...would you want to call? -

one of the few times I've ever made a decision based on placement on the TLB, and since he's number 1....he's bluffable...LOL - like most pros.

almost had a repeat last night in the 10 buck rebuy, but alas...out at 26th - but I took most of the money from my account today and cashed it cause quite frankly, I need it for my Montana vacation.

If you are anywhere around Mystic Lake thats a hike well worth your time. Its beautiful and the fishing can be very good. Watch out for bears if you camp overnight.

Montana vacation = visiting Dad/Brothers/Nephews in Kalispell where we all grew up

that means Montana/Big Sky/Glacier, but it also means I get to chop wood and collect hay bales...LOL

yah...bears are a bitch around there... - I need solid points for my 44 magnum cause if I had to shoot a bear with a hollow point, it might just splatter without penetrating the skull and really piss him off..

but they leave us alone in the hills west of town.
