Hi all,

I had a 5-week goal of $500/week that I had set for myself, just to concentrate on consistent play, and the first 3 weeks were easy. I had no problems making over $500 each week. I had a really bad day today, which started with our kitten dying, and then proceeded into me blowing a lot of money playing higher limit NL than I should be playing. Anyway, lost over a grand on the day, really wasnt playing too poorly just a lot of second best hands, etc.

My question is can I make $1,500 in 2 days playing 1/2 NL, 200 max?? (I wont have much time to play Sat/Sun). It will be 10-handed play, probably 3 tables. If you think it can be done what is the best strategy for breaks? Frequent short breaks or only occasional longer breaks? I am completely free the next 2 days, have no obligations, and I think I am up for the challenge. I have to work tonight, but should be ready to start by early afternoon tomorrow. Let me know your thoughts and any suggestions.

Can it be done? Sure. Anybody can get lucky, go on a good run and win $1500 in $1/$2, $200 max. Anybody.

Can you be the NL best player in the world and lose $1500 in the same structure and time period? Definitely. Bad cards and bad beats come in bunchs.

I don't think it's a good idea to set short term goals and garner any expectations from this because it's such a fickle game. I'd rather see something long term like a 3-month plan.

If you set this goal and fail, I think you'd be missing the point. Playing the best you can with whatever you have (and sometimes what you don't have) on each hand against each opponent.

As for your other question, I think at least for me, I would normally play 2 games at most and take short breaks every hour and whenever you need to eat. Don't kill yourself trying to reach your goals!

>$100/hr is very doable multi-tabling Party 1/2 $100-max tables. So I figure $150/hr is probably a reasonable amt that can be made multitabling 1/2 $200-max. So, yeah, $1500 in two days is very doable.

Diablo,

I was only hoping for $75/hr, over 20/hours. 10/hrs a day shouldn't be too tiring. That would do it. I will be on prima 200 max.... its not exactly a tough game and I dont think it should be impossible. I think $150/hr is reasonable for the best players, probably including yourself, but frankly I'm probably not that good. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll start a thread tomorrow with updates of my progress.

Garland,

Dont take me too literally... i meant can it reasonably be done??? Of course it technically can be done. I dont know if setting a short-term goal like this is a good thing or not, but if things aren't going to well hopefully I'll have the brains to stop for a while.

Anyway, I have a long-term goal of $500/week that has been going well.. I have never done one of these 'poker marathons' before and I think it will be fun whether I make it or not.

Just don't get angry if you're even after two hours, or even down a little, and try to make it up just so you can reach your goals. It's a marathon, and if you're playing 20 hours straight on two tables, at some point you're going to go on a rush.

since your playing 10 max it would be nice to throw another table in there if you can handle it. if you dont like 6 max and there aer only 3 10 maxs, maybe evne a 20 dollar sng would be nice.

How many tables are you talking about Diablo? If he were only 3 tabling, that would be maybe around 200 hands/hour. His win rate would have to be really big then (19BB/100 hands or so) to make $75 an hour. 5 tabling at 6 max would require a far lower win rate, but still be pretty good. Also, 20 hours of poker in two days is quite a bit, let me know how it turns out.

Very doable??? Come-on.. Sure it can be done.. But Very doable?? I wouldn't think so.. /images/graemlins/confused.gif
If you would play 4 tables thats around 200hands/hour = 25 BigBlinds/100 hands. . Not very easy to achive!
Perhaps if you would play 8 tables you could do it? 400hands/hour = 12.5 BigBlinds/100 hands. If you are good I think you can make it.. but not the average 2+2 member could do it. Only the top players!

But what do I know.. am only a grinder.. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

This does sound very hard to do... almost insane... probably not possible...maybe El D was smoking something when he said this...

Or maybe it was the internet porn... and he was trying to impress some e-chick by coming up with these numbers!!

Of course it is possible to make 1500 in 2 days at these stakes, but it shouldn't be a goal. Realize that every individual session you have is part of one huge cash game you play during your entire life. Make the correct plays as the situation dictates, put in the hours, and the money will certainly come. Your play will suffer if you put pressure on yourself to make a certain amount of money in a finite amount of time. And TILT will ensue. Just play, and the money will come in time.
