Playing the Hold'em portion of a 4 handed game.

SB: a very good player. Both tight and aggressive, particularly good on the flop.

BB: a world class palyer.

I am UTG

Button: the fish we are feeding on.

I pick up AhKh and raise button folds, both blinds call.

Flop comes 8 5 2 all hearts.

Action: SB bets, BB raises, I raise, SB caps.

Turn is the Q clubs.

Action: SB bets, BB raises, I raise, SB caps.

(at this point I have to believe the BB for certain has a set. Most likely the 55 as I think he throws away the 22 even short handed and raises the 88. Anyhow, just looking for no pair on the board and hopefully not the 4 6 or 9 of hearts)

River comes J hearts.

Action: check check bet fold fold.

I still guess:

1) The BB had a set and decided not to pay off. 2) SB had either 3h4h or 6h7h and also hated the river. (Maybe even top set)

Am I missing anything? Ideas on what everyone else was holding?

This is why I'm not world class (yet). After the sb folds, I'd pay you off with almost anything in a pot that size. I might even attempt a check/raise bluff, hoping you flopped a made (but non-nut) flush and would now fold.

I don't think a made flush is going to fold to checkraised river here.

I agree it's unlikely given the pot size, but I don't know... A guy raises with Th,9h, flops a flush, it goes 4 bets on the flop 3-way, 4 bets on the turn 3-way, and now the 4th heart comes and he gets check/raised? I've seen average to poor players throw away better hands in total disgust.

All I'm saying is that in a pot that size, it might be worth a shot.
