View Full Version : Was this a correct flop fold?

With the bet and the call in front of me, I felt there was little chance I could be ahead after the flop, but a friend of mine maintains that raising this flop is the only play in a typical micro-limit game.

depends on your reads. maybe BB is a calling station and SB is a LAG, that way a raise is 100% necessary. But what if SB is a solid player betting a K and BB is a turn trips raiser? that time you fold.

In this case, with no reads, i'd do the safe thing and fold. If i would have won i make notes and don't screw up next time.

I would probably raise this flop, and consider folding if SB 3-bets or leads out on the turn.

SB bets right into your PF raise, and a K hit. That's not to mention the 8's.

At a typical table with no reads, and with a bet into me, and a caller with that board and those hole cards, I'm folding. You're 8:1 if my math is right, and you're hoping for a T, that's like 20:1. Unless you're hoping you're still ahead here, which I think is not even likely one time in eight. Perhaps that's weak.

This was my thinking as well. If it was heads-up, or the BB had folded to the SB bet, I may have raised, but with the bet AND the call, what hands could both be holding that I beat?

My buddy says raise the flop for info, but why even pay the dime when it will be lost far more often than not and I have almost no chance of improving.

Yes. This pot is probably not big enough to risk it. I think the fold is good.
