Does anyone know how (if?) I can check online to see if boks are available at a local bookstore (specifically Barnes and Noble)? I live near two and would rather get SSH sooner rather than later.

a. Call the local store. (If you call, tell the clerk that the ISBN (ID Number)for the book you want is 1880685329. That eliminates any confusion about similar titles.)

b. check the B&N website for more info.

c. Doesn't B&N have next day delivery in NYC for stuff ordered at their website?

I buy almost all of my DVDs and all of my books from one source: www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) -- no sales tax AND they have a free shipping option (which usually takes 1-2 weeks total). Plus, on most items, they give healthy discounts. I recommend them to everyone wholeheartedly.

Thanks Barron, that's really helpful. /images/graemlins/confused.gif I'm sure I can:

a) use my BN gift card there, and
b) walk two blocks to their store so I don't have to wait 1-2 weeks.

You can check Borders availability online. Go to bordersstores.com, use the store locator to search for stores. Check the boxes next to the stores, then click on add. Then click on 'search store inventory', on the next page type in 'Small stakes hold em' and pray /images/graemlins/smile.gif The B&N and Borders stores here in North Dallas have really dropped the ball. : (

For those who are interested in the outcome:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, there is no way to check Barnes and Noble store inventory online. You will need to contact the retail store directly for that information.

Visit www.bn.com (http://www.bn.com) and click on the options that appear in the upper right-hand corner to view information about your order.

We look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

Stacy

i have tried that with Barnes and Nobel in NYC. They have something that where you are supposedly able to check online if a store has a book available. As the people in the store told me when i went looking for a book they didn't have, the computer system is horrific. The best thing to do is call a B&N near you and they can check on their in house computer, which is updated more regularly.

Also, if you can wait, if you are in NYC, they can deliver to you in 1 day for free.
