i probably shouldn't be posting this, as my chances of success will likely decrease. but, if you're in/around milwaukee, you probably want to check out www.badgerpoker.com (http://www.badgerpoker.com) and register for the tournaments. these are free entry tournaments, with 10 weeks of prelims. in october there will be a championship.

just thought people might be interested in this.

good luck.

I will be playing 8/4, 8/11, and 8/12.

I would love to win one of these to get to the final tourny, but have no interest in going every night to be in the top 40 point people. Are you going any of those nights?

Did anyone play yesterday? It sounds like fun, but since they are free, the prize pools are pretty tiny.

They just opened it up for tonight, I thought it was already full. I'll swing by there tonight and play. I'll give an update tomorrow.

Guys:

I grew up in Wisonsin and now live in Atlanta. I am coming up there for a week in September to attend a wedding and to see family.

I noticed that (via the web) that both the Potawatomi and Keshena casinos now have poker tables. Has anyone played there? How is the action? I'd appreciate any feedback you might have. Thanks!

Keshena only has about 5 tables I believe. Potawatomi has 10 tables - (4) 2-4 tables, (1) 10-20 table with 1/2 kill, (3) 5-10 tables, 1 with 1/2 kill, (1) 1-5 7 stud table, and (1) 20-40 table with 1/2 kill.

Games are decent...long lines however.

Thanks for the info.

I would be likely going in on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and park it for about 8 hours each day. Is there typically a huge weekday crowd?

On a weekday afternoon, depending on how early you go, you shouldn't have more than a 1 hour wait. Perhaps longer, if you want to play 10/20 or 20/40 as they will only have 1 table open.

The players overall compared to playing on-line were pretty weak, although with the quick-rising blinds, there is a lot of luck involved with catching cards.

Quick recap:

First of all, we ate at the restaurant before-hand, pretty pricey but very good food. The tourny was held in the basement, there was a bar and waitress down there as well, so that was fine. They did change the rules with antes and changed it to having blinds. This was a very good rule change if you ask me. There were about 100 people there to play as well.

Well, everyone started with 10K in chips and blinds started at 100/200. They then moved up every 1/2 hour, 200/400, 500/1000, 1000/2000, 2000/4000....etc. However there were no seating assignments, they said just find a seat and sit down. Well some of the tables had more/less people to start than others. Also I wasn't sure if there were any great players at a table full of fish or not.

With a live game, you don't get nearly the amount of hands per hour as you do on the computer so I felt the need to be slightly more aggressive than normal, although I did only play a couple hands in the first hour. We ended up having to people bust out and then they moved 4 people from a different table onto ours. I had good reads on the people left at our table, but now we had 9 again. Of the 3 new people, 1 had barely any chips left along with one close to 10K and the other two had to be close to 30K each. I was now sandwhiched between two people with 25-30K. I was sitting around 13-14K.

A few more people busted out and right after my big blind our table had to break-up. I got stuck paying the big blind at the next table as well right away. Talk about a jip. Anyways I busted someone at the new table and got my chips up to about 22K but I was still short-stacked big-time compared to 4 people on the table. Lost a couple BB's on bad flops, and I had about 17K remaining. Just about 2 hours in and the blinds going to move up to 2/4K I catch K/Js in late position. I make a raise to 6K, I figured even if I took the blinds that be ok. The BB called (luckiest stretch of cards I'd ever seen in the last 45 minutes). Flop comes K/J/10, he tries to put a $500 bet into the 13K pot, easy push for me after playing with him the past hour but he flops over A/Q this time....This guy was absolutly blessed last night.

I'm signed up for tonight but couldn't help thinking I gave away 5 hours that I could have played on-line, plus had to buy dinner/drinks, etc......

I'd like to win one of these to get in the final tourny, but have no desire to go to tons of them to make it on points. Most of the crowd there seemed like they'd be there every night they can, I have no intention of doing that.

Well, went last night to my 7th event and I won it. Around 100-120 people there. A very nice win....

Prizes if you win are an entry to the final tourny for prizes including the trip, a final table t-shirt, a Champion Polo Shirt, and a $30 bar tab to the bar that you won at.

Anyone else here playing or how are you doing?
