I would be interested in whether you had any read on MP3 here. If MP3 is a tight conservative player then I probably play it just the way you did.

If I don't have any read on MP3, or if I think MP3 is loose aggressive, then I would call on the turn figuring that MP3 is betting top pair or a flush draw. Then depending on the river card either check and then call or bet if I make my set.

My rationale for betting this way is that MP3 was not raising pre-flop. While some folks like to limp in with monster hands, most won't.

But my way might be a bit too aggressive.

If I had a solid read I have forgotten it. He wasn't a maniac, so just assume a typical player.

This is a weird hand because MP3 could have so many hands, stuff like A /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif come into mind, but he could also have a set.

At first I thought bet the turn, fold to a raise, but some people are aggressive enough to push stuff like Ad7d here.

I think you'd at least have to have a read on MP3's preflop play here in order to decide if he has you beat. What kinds of hands would he coldcall a UTG raise with?

A lot of players at this level will coldcall a preflop raise with a mid- or low pocket pair. This and his action on the flop had me thinking set. I didn't think 2 more big bets would be worth it to find out.
