16:1 with a slim chance of drawing dead. Fold the flop?

I think you can peel one off on the flop as it seems doubtful BB would check raise this flop, the turn you obviously have to call and the river looks a clear fold. I play it the same...

17:1

Fold the flop?

Ok.

Folding the flop is not unreasonable, I think I'd still take a look and muck any turn card that doesn't improve me.

I'm curious why you say the BB is unlikely to c/r this flop.
Is it b/c I'm the likely aggressor and he's unlikely to have a hand he's conerned with protecting?

hey bottles - you had exactly the hand i put you on. I was thinking of checkraising you on the turn, but then the T hit. I figured that would give you a gutshot and you would most likely check behind. Would you have bet had I chcked if you had no gutshot outs? I realize you would fold to the CR but that might put BB on the installment plan on the turn.

oh and BTW, jacks were no g00t!

I just think its rare to see a capper preflop check the flop. Its not impossible just unlikely.

i've been seeing a lot of this lately. people will cap with garbage. I would take my chances with this flop too; I don't think a checkraise seems likely.

Well...aren't you the hand reader /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I had no idea you were in that hand. Cool. Say hi next time /images/graemlins/grin.gif

And, no, I was not betting, no chance.

I'm thinking these are about as dead as you can make them. A capped flop and this guy keeps firing into you with a K and an A showing?

If this guy is at all even an okay player you're looking at QQ, KK or AK here. If this guy sucks Party style, you're looking at Ax or Kx. I can think of a million ways you're losing this hand.

I think calling the flop is not horrible, but not great either. Once the turn misses you, you have to think about the player that is betting into you. If you've seen him do this with a mid pocket pair, like 77 or 88, then maybe call him down. But if it's a decent player betting this turn, i can't think of many hands I'm ahead of, and I muck the turn unimproved.

Fold the flop getting 17:1? NO way, both you're J outs are clean b/c you hold the J /images/graemlins/spade.gif, You'll be able to make 2 bbs if you hit you're hand on the turn. You've also got a back door flush draw which may or may not be good. The pot is huge and folding is a mistake IMO

...and I muck the turn unimproved.

I agree. However, I did improve on the turn.

If you call the flop with hopes of improving then you gotta call the turn once the ten comes. However, I would have taken the flop folding route and moved onto the next hand.

Even though there are already 17SB in the pot on the flop, I'm probably folding. The likelihood that JJ is good here looks bad, and if for some reason you aren't behind yet you could still fall behind. All you have is third pair vs the two overcards that account for most of the combos of openraising and BB capping hands.

You need to be closing the action to make this call on the flop.

17-1 is pretty thin to call the flop considering:

1. Two live players behind you including the capper.

2. Someone may already have an overset.

3. If you spike a jack on the turn they usually have redraws such as spade flush, broadway straight, set of queens, or aces/kings full.

IMO your chances of getting a jack and losing negate your implied odds.
