Seems to me that there are 2 reasons to play on party. The Button was pretty nice as well. I could be off since I've never played higher limits but was he not very passive?

I think the button played well, he was able to sense he was behind.... probably when I check/3bet the flop /images/graemlins/grin.gif

This is excellently played by the Button. He has established an image of a reckless bluffer. He had to call the river in order to show his cards and establish that image. Now everyone will call him down for the rest of the night.
