I figured we might as well get the party started.

I am ClaudioReyna and I am in.

Good luck to the 2+2ers!

I played in a "satellite" yesterday (it was actually a couple SnGs that I told myself if I won enough for the entry fee I would play in this) so I'll likely be signing up for it tomorrow.

Cya there and good luck. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm in as well. However since my pokerstars roll is so small, I may have to drop outts this one, to play in the $500 NL event instead.

I'm in.

0 for 4 in satellites so far /images/graemlins/frown.gif. I'll buy in if I don't win my way in.

Screen name is the same as here.

Good luck to all 2+2ers.

I played the smallest buy-in Limit HE event last year but this year likely not. I didn't find time to play more than 2 cash satellites to this event and didn't find my way to winning a seat. There may be one last $3 rebuy event tonight, but I work a late swing so I doubt I'll make it home in time.

I can't stand the satellite structure this year. All double-shootout and rebuy tournaments - and I seem to do poorly in both. I qualified fairly easily playing in a $30+3 MTT non rebuy super satellite last year and this year there was nothing like this format for this (or perhaps any) 2004 WCOOP event.

Bump. 1000+ people in this, going to be a long tournament.

Meatmaw

Took a glance at many of the remaining non-rebuy tourneys. Aren't most going to be over 1000? They'd have to be to avoid any overlay, and it seems usually there isn't any overlay.

Take your time; please don't hurry on our account. :-) I think this would be an excellent oppertunity to spend some quality time with your daughter.

Hope to see you at the final table.

Good luck,

It's ok if you pull a Phil Hellmuth. Blinds go up every 30 minutes and you start with 2500. It'll hardly dent you.

I wish I could make it. 3PM starts are tough for me. That and my wife is sick and I don't know if I'll even be able to play in the rebuy tomorrow /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Tosh
07-30-2004, 03:34 PM
Yeah its great, a little like a big cash game. I've played 50 hands in the first half hour so there is a hell of a lot of play in this too.

Nottom
07-30-2004, 03:37 PM
I have to say, I'm always amazed at how poor the play is in these things early on. My first table was a rockfest, with raises often taking it down ... then I moved to a tables where 5-6 handed flops are common and cold-calling is standard ... much better.

fnurt

Folded me to on the button with QQ, SB turned out to have KK. Ace came on the flop and I barely got charged anything. Sometimes I like limit a lot!

Nottom
07-30-2004, 03:43 PM
My favorite hand so far.

I open-raise with Black 77 in MP, 2 coldcallers and the BB come along.

Flop is J-high - so I fire a bet and get one call from a coldcaller.
Turn is a midsized spade, I go ahead and fire again and he calls.
River is another spade, I check he bets and I grudgingly call to see his red AA.

Miplayed to perfection.

La Brujita
07-30-2004, 03:43 PM
My table is pretty tough. I expected a softer start. I also lost a biggish pot with a flopped set losing to a bigger set hit on river.

The key hand:

UTG with JJ. I raise, MP calls, BB calls. Flop is J98, BB bets, I call, MP folds. Turn is another 8, BB bets, I raise, he 3-bets, I cap. River is a 2, BB checks, I bet, he calls and shows AQ. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Pretty crappy cards for the most part between breaks, good hands ran into better ones but my opponents relative passiveness left me a bit of wiggle room.

With about 5 min before the break I go for a steal with K3s from the CO and get called by the SB (poor player). Flop is rags with a 3. Check, bet call.
Turn is a very pretty 3. Check, bet, check-raise, 3-bet, cap. River is a blank ... and hes all-in, I call and he has a slowplayed QQ.

A few hands later I flop the nut flush with AJs after raising and getting 3-bet and pick up a 2k pot going into the break.

I'm in the BB with AJs. A habitual stealer open-raises from the button and I 3-bet.

Just a dreadful 5th level, dropped 3K. JJ cracked twice, 3 flush draws that missed.

Still no pair higher than J's, and I haven't made a hand better than 1 pair, so I guess I should be happy just to still be in it. Maybe this level will bring my big hands.

4530 at the 3rd break. 309 out of 509.

Had it over 7k after pocket kings flopped a set. Retard coldcalled 3-bets preflop with 33. He calls me on the flop and turn. River is a 3, and a big win for me! Then the table got super-tight and my cards went cold. I've been stealing a few blinds though.

I have 6960 at break. Just lost a big tricky pot. I very very rarely check call with top pair but I felt I was behind based on a read but my backdoor flush draw then oe straight on turn didn't let me fold. Thoughts? I probably messed this hand up but couldn't find a place to fold.

I built my chip stack by being very aggressive so this is a very atypical hand.

I am struggling a bit at 9210, had AA cracked hu (big surprise) to KJo.

I think I made a very good laydown here. A smooth call by opponent on the turn and I would have been in trouble. I honestly had the blind on a middle pair like 88 or 99 most likely-of course he was the most likely to hold a 2.

12080 at 4th break. 124th out of 266.

If I remember right, I saw 4 flops since the last break. Luckily, I had pocket aces that won about a 5k pot, and A6s that made a flush on the turn to win about a 8k pot. My table only has one semi-bad player. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Congrats on your finish Tosh. I was lurking at your table for a while. I totally suck at limit tourneys though I do all right in no-limit and pot-limit so, if you don't mind, enlighten me on calling all your chips in with Q-high on that final hand. Maybe its just my inexperience (and pure suckiness) at limit, but I think I'd've folded that pretty quickly.

Cashed $636.00 for the effort. Was fun.
No limit should be better tomorrow.
Got knocked out in th BB w/ stack of 8K.
Blinds were 1.5K and 3K.
Called raise w/ 8 9 off. flop came K 9 3. bet and was put all in. was up agaimst AK and did not improve. Felt like I had to go here as it was a multiway pot before the flop.

Congrats on the finish. I caught your final hand and I agree that, with your stack size and hitting a piece of the flop, you pretty much had to end up all-in. I'm not entirely sure I'd've called the raise preflop w/89o but, as I said in other posts, I'm so terrible at limit tourneys that I'd take everything I say with a grain (=metric ton) of salt.

See the separate thread for my thoughts on it. I was gambling essentially, in order to get a stack.

Seeing it in detail makes more sense. I didn't recall that you'd bet the flop, then got raised. At that point, yes, I see why you'd call your chips in. I was thinking you'd gotten bet into on the flop, not that you bet, then got raised. Again, congrats on the finish.

Yes, I saw the heads up. It was terrible. gussiedup folded away any chance at winning it. I don't think gussiedup won one hand after they went heads up. And they were close to even then.

gussiedup's response to the rail at the end..."I hate heads up"
