This is my first ever hand posting.

.25/.50 on Pacific, 4-handed. Other people at the table are loose passive.

Hero is button, has K /images/graemlins/spade.gif 5 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

UTG calls, hero folds.

Did I make the right play? Would it matter if it were 5-handed and there were one or two callers in front of me?

Folding is correct, and it's not close.

To make this call, you'd need 4 or 5 callers ahead of you. The number of players seated is not really relevant.

I've been playing mostly 4 and 5-handed, and out of the blinds I've been playing hands that are 20 in blackjack, Ax and most pairs. I've been playing A5o here so when I saw the K5s it seemed like a close call. Am I wrong to play A5o then?

Marquis,

K5s is an EASY raise.
A5o is an EASIER raise.

Am I missing something or is it a 4-handed game and you're on the button?

I would fold here too. K7s - easy call. K9s - borderline raise. KTs - raise for value.

Call me a LAG...but if K9s on the button (of a 4-handed game with an UTG limper) is a "borderline raise" you are playing WAY too tight.

I think I worded this a bit too strongly. If you're sure the blinds will fold, and you have good control over the limper, then you might raise K5s. But it's never a good call. Also, if you're reasonably sure the blinds will fold, you might raise with A5o, but it's hardly automatic.

P.S. I just noticed I have 666 posts as of this one. Sweet.
