It's gonna be a fun event...twice as big and twice the buyin of last year's equivalent. All you have to do to cash the tournament is win three headsup matches in a row, which is harder than it sounds but also very doable. Nine wins takes the blue ribbon and around $40,000 USD.

Last year, I won 3 rounds, but lost in the fourth. Doubled my buyin--this year it's quadruple the buyin for the same feat. I don't remember too much from the event, but there was one interesting twist when my second round opponent began our match sitting out. I had raised his stack down marginally when he came back. Before noticing that he had returned, I raised again by forced of habit. He called. I had A9. All the money went in on a nine-high flop, him with Q9, and I won the second round having only to play 1 hand.

Some over/under proposition bets:

Number of players (between 1 and 512) who will be eliminated in the first level of play (15 minutes): 100.

Length for the entire first round: 100 minutes.

I'm inclined to take the over on both but let's see how good the arbitrary lines I set were.

Good luck everyone--I'll add to the thread tomorrow after each round, and it would be fun to get a lot of different stories. Hopefully there will be several updates.

I'll take the over on this. The rounds are substantially longer than the Stars regular heads up tournies.

From my experience the rounds in the normal headsup tournies are over 80 minutes long.

how does blinding down work in a headsup game with a player sitting out? Is there some timer that is always on, or is it as bad as just a full-on fold-fest like in SNGs?

I will attest that Toshoutdraw sometimes has luck on his side when playing.

I don't know how bad his opponent played. I would have reraised before the flop but Tosh had been pretty aggressive in the match so he might have been trying to get him to bluff at a pot.

Postflop I am losing my W dollars with KK.

major swings in this one as i was in control to start.

2nd round.

I have about 2800 in chips and my opponent has about 3200.

I'm BB and he calls. I have 5h 8h and check. Flop came Ac2d9h. He checked and I checked. Turn came 7h giving me the flush draw and inside straight draw. He bet 120 and I called as he was a pretty aggressive player. River came 6d. I led out with a bet of 360 and he raised 360. I did not put him on anything and reraised all-in and he called with 8T for the higher straight.

As I said he was pretty aggressive and would raise, check raise quite a bit. I guess my only play could have been to raise him a signicant amount on the turn. Any thoughts??

Looking back, don't you think it was ill-advised to go all-in on the turn? With a board like that, there weren't many marginal holdings that might fold to an all-in raise but would call a lesser raise.

At any rate, I can't believe he called you... good luck!
