This hand seemed strange to me, the BB never really made me believe he had connected, so i tried to play like i might had i hit it hard, would appreciate any comments/critisms.

down to last 8 in 18 seater on stars i have 2750 BB has 5500 approx blinds are 50/100

All fold to me one off the button I see A2o and raise to 250
,button folds, SB folds, BB calls

Pot is 550

Flop comes J /images/graemlins/club.gif Q /images/graemlins/club.gif J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

BB checks I bet 250, BB check raises to 500, call wait a second then call

Pot is 1,550

Turn is 6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

BB checks, I bet 250, BB calls

Pot is 2,050

River is Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

BB checks I bet 450, BB folds

Pot is 2500, Mackthefork takes it uncontested

Obviously i had the best hand, should i check the river here, or do i risk a split doing that.

Regards ML

I would have thought it was likely that I won, but I would check here to guard against a check-raise. An A is likely to call the type of bet you made anyway, and you risk a better hand check-raising you. No need to make a bigger bet with only an A, because you would only get called by a hand that beats you.
