Help with connecting Pokerstars (and others)

I'm trying to set my father up with Pokerstars but continually get an "Internet Connectivity Error". His computer will not let UB, PP, or AIM as well. I have tried disabling McAffe and giving the application all the necessary permissions to no avail. Any suggestions?
