I got two books today, both as one order. Al's Psychology and Ed's SSH. But I got a disk promoting 888.com. Is this site sanctioned by 2+2 or ConJelCo?

Hi paland:

The answer is no. Who did you order your books from?

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi easypete:

If the disk came from ConJelCo, then that is something ConJelco did. I had no prior knowledge of it and don't even know what the disk is for.

Best wishes,
Mason

It's software for a gambling site. 888.com

888 is Pacific poker.

Exactly. It's also Casino-on-Net portal.

Sneaky stuff, and I'm a little surprised/dissapointed that the crew at Conjelco would stoop to such a move. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Why are you disapointed? ConJelCo receives a sponsorship fee for inclusion, they need to make a profit somewhere since selling books for a living isn't that profitable. I think thats totaly fair. Its no diferent from magazines about the internet including AOL cdroms, even though most readers would never consider using AOL since they are mostly broadband users by now.

just my 2 + 2 cents...

The included CD is no different than the CD that is sometimes included with subscribed to copies of Card Player or PC World for that matter. In fact, it is no different than the banner ad that appears at the top of the page. That is, it's a paid advertisement.

Who cares...if you don't want it, then throw it out.

Now that's completely off the subject. I know what it was. The question was "Is this site sanctioned by 2+2 or ConJelCo?". But you don't need to answer it now.

Perhaps the miscommunication is your definition of "sanctioned". I would say yes, since ConJelCo recieves a payment for including the CDROM.

Sounds like that fits the bill!

I think you may be reading too much into this.

A disc from AOL arrives every few months in my mail box. But I don't think the US Postal Service endorses or sanctions AOL as an ISP, they just deliver the disc and take AOL's dime.

That's what's happening here. Conjelco can say they are delivering books to people who are probably interested in poker. This makes it attractive to poker sites to pay Conjelco to include their disc with the shipment.

Wow, Mason said "NO" in his reply. I'm going to take his answer. It is simply amazing how someone can ask a question on this site, get an answer, then get fifty different varieties of answers afterwards.

Don't mean to sound so harsh. It is roasting here in Sacramento and my Air conditioner Sucks. I'm just hoping my CPU doesn't spaz on me right before the final table.

I didn't order the book from Conjelco, so I don't have to.

Sorry Chuck. I didn't mean to jump on you. Just been on tilt for a couple of hours. Thanks for answering.
