View Full Version : Folding your Flush Draw

I play alot of small limit hold-em 3/6, 4/8, and 6/12 live casino games.
As a result of going on a great streak of a few weeks of making flushes:
Ive been chasing my flush draws all the way to the river.

Example: Holding K10s,A8s, etc. and flopping a 4 flush I will bet to see the River 85% of the time (providing theres no boat possible, and no 3or 4 bet reraising going on etc, etc)

now this is great if you hit but missing 3 of these draws on a 4/8 table and your down $60-$80 minimum. Thats a leak i can do without.

Anyone have any good ideas on guidelines of when to absolutely toss it?

Pot-odds and Implied odds.
If you have the odds call, if you don't fold.

It is almost always wrong to fold when you flop a four flush in a full low limit game unless the board pairs twice.

In a loose/passive game those flushes pay off nice. If nobody is raising I'm going to see the draw out with a four flush.(if getting the odds) I usually don't take the flop with 2 suited cards unless one is A or K or connected.

I agree, in these types of games you should probably always see the river after you flop a 4-flush (except as mentioned before, when the board pairs twice).

I have even seen players take a 3-flush to the turn, and many times it is actually the correct play to call one small bet to see the turn if you have a backdoor flush draw (3 to a flush) and at least 4 other outs (e.g. inside straight draw, 2 overcards, 1 overcard and one pair, etc. - this assumes that there are already at least 8 small bets in the pot).

You don't really fold when there is raising, do you? Hell, sometimes you should be the one raising.

This reads as, providing there's no boat possible, or jamming going on, im seeing the river 85% of the time. If so, there's 15% of leak right there.

You will hardly be making any mistake in seeing the river with a 4 flush no matter the action. Same goes for an openended str8 draw. Some of the biggest pots i've ever seen taken down were by baby flushes. They could be jamming lots of hands.

That's not a leak, that's a natural swing of the game.

..the fact that you think it is a leak to go to the river with a four flush.

I strongly suspect your biggest leak is you don't have a good grasp of pot odds in relation to the odds of making your hand, in this case making your flush.
