I was the short stack here and thought it was a good time to try to steal the blinds? I know that my first bet wasnt large enough to move anyone with a good hand off. What hand do you do put him on or is it even relevant in this sitation? It seems like Im already comitted to this hand. Any comments would be helpful.

Hi there,

My thought is that you made a mistake raising utg with KT. If you were going to raise you should have raised it up to 150 but I think the bigger mistake was raising at all.

KTo should be mucked UTG, there are too many hands that will come later and dominate it. FWIW KJ is probably worth a muck here and KQ is the lowest offsuit hand I would raise with.

Post flop if I am in I play the same as you.

You are a short stack but you still have plenty of play with blinds of 25-50.

Definitely fold preflop.

I agree ... I never play this hand, especially UTG ... however, I keep reading about people trying to push when short stacked to build to 1000 for the next level ... Under this senario, I find myself in the money and never in the lead unless I get a great hand early and push and get called with only marginal hands. Any advise on being short stacked and in the money, trying to win.

Pretty tough to try to steal the blinds from UTG, especially with that hand. Fold and wait for a better hand and/or better position.

You still need to mind position when trying to steal blinds. If a couple people have folded in front of you, you are less likely to meet resistance from those behind.
