View Full Version : Railbird at the Mirage

I was a railbird today for my first experience at the Mirage. I must admit that this expereince was not what I had initially expected. The first thing that caught my eye was the filth filtering around me. Now, don't get me wrong I'v frequented poker rooms in LA, as well as AC and Foxwoods, etc. The restrooms located in the back of the Mirage were absolutely dispicable! I asked the pit boss to come and assess the situation and he refused sending me to the floor guy, then the floor guy called the front desk. Now I had to go to the front desk of the hotel, where the receptionist called the sanitary services. We treked back to the restrooms, where lo and behold the bathroom was already being serviced by two technicians who were taking care of things. Talk about poor communications this is comprable to the fiasco going on with our federal government!

Next thing which was quite perturbing was the length of the lists there. Talk about poor management! They don't hav e any idea how to run a functioning poker room to say the least. And then I railbirded for sometime, trying to pick up on the players in the game that I was waiting for. Needless to say, this was my worst experience ever at a cardroom. This woman in seat 1 and the guy in seat two were literally making love connections, touchy feely stuff under the table. Only the railbirds seemed to notice, and everyone felt as I did, that this certainly had no place at a casino, expecially at the MIRAGE! There are plenty of other places for this type of behavior. For one, get a room! But I held back on my urge to open my mouth, and instead continually viewed both types of action at this table. I never did get into that game and I left this hellhole never to appear again!

Suffice to say, I was not pleased!!!

Well I play a fair amount at The Mirage and it is an extremely well run room, located in a first class hotel/casino that is kept incredibly clean. If you were there over the weekend, the lists were long, but that's because the room was full. You see many people know it is a great place to stay and play poker.

Now I'm not doubting your sincerity, just surprised to see that you feel this way. I recommend that on a future trip you give The Mirage a second try. You might discover that your bad experience is not typical for that resort.

Best wishes,

Mason

What do you mean, "Get a room!"? Do you know how much rooms at the Mirage *cost*?

If two people are making a "love connection" during the game and being touchy/feely under the table, this tells me they are not concentrating on the poker game and will not be playing their "A" game. What are you complaining about? I am constantly amazed by guys who complain about someones inattention at the poker game as if this is a bad thing. What do you prefer, that they are totally focused on the game at hand and thus playing their best poker? Wake up and smell what you are shoveling...

I was just at the Mirage last week for 5 days and saw no such filth. I go to Vegas on the average of 3 times a year and have never experienced any such thing as you described at the Mirage. It’s a very nice and enjoyable card room to play at.

You must be a little sissy. We don't need big crybabies like you trying to play poker.

I use the facilities at the Mirage quite often, and I must say that their toilets are clean and first rate. You have a large choice of stalls and excellent soft TP as well. If they would only put a magazine rack in each stall...

I recommend you try the restroom adjacent to the Race & Sportsbook at Bellagio. The handicapped stall is the greatest. It's the size of a toolshed, for God's sake.
