Table P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,P6,P7

If the BB(P3) busts/leaves table does the EP1(P4, guy after big blind) skip the BB and pay the SB only?

Also if the SB(P2) busts does the BB(P3) get button and skip paying the SB?

How does that work?

Most casinos would do a single big blind and no small blind for the next hand.

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say

P1-----------------P2-------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
Button-------------SB-----------------BB

P2 busts is next round?:

P1-----------------P2-------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
-------------------BUSTED-------------Button-------------SB-----------------BB
with P3 skipping SB and P4 skipping the BB?

Situation 2:
P3 busts is next round?:

P1-----------------P2---------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
---------------------Button-------------Busted-------------SB------------------BB

This time P4 skips the BB.

Is this right, or how does this work?

No. P3 does not skip the SB. There would be a dead button in P2's empty seat, P3 would be the SB and P4 the BB. In B&M tourneys, blinds should never be skipped because of bust-outs.

Players should always be posting their all their blinds in turn. I know it doesn't work that way on some online sites, but live a blind should never be skipped, even if it means the button remains stationary for x hands.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Also, how does "buying the blind" work?

Or the single big blind?

I'm not sure what you mean by "buying the blind."

As for the solo BB, it's just a normal BB, but there's no SB in the pot, so there's 2/3 the normal amount of blind money in the pot. Everything else still works the same.

Why would you ever do this? Even in headsup play there is a SB and a BB.

Why would you ever do this?

Go back and start reading the thread again from your first question. You do it because the person who would have been the small blind has busted out.

Even in headsup play there is a SB and a BB.

But in the 3/6 game at Circus-Circus there's only one $3 blind.

Start:
P1-----------------P2-------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
Button-------------SB-----------------BB

Situation #1:
P2 busts is next round?:

P1-----------------P2-------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
-------------------BUSTED---------------SB-----------------BB--------------------
-------------------Button(in empty chair)

Situation #2:
P3 busts is next round?:

P1-----------------P2---------------------P3-----------------P4------------------P5
---------------------Button-------------Busted-------------BB---------------------
----------------------------------------No SB

Are these correct?

Just keep moving the BB one player to the left after each hand. If the seat in the SB location is empty, there's no SB. It's that simple.

That is the perfect answer/way to remember it. Thanks.

It depends on the cardroom. At my local room (Canterbury Park), they use a "forward-moving" button in all cash games. This means the button always moves to the next player (not the next seat), all players post the SB and BB during each orbit, and there are always at least 2 blinds to the left of the button.

Example:

Code:

P3 P4 P5 P6
P2 P7
P1 D P8

Hand 1: P1 is the button, P2 is the SB, P3 is the BB.

Normal situation for Hand 2: P2 should be the button, P3 should be SB, P4 should be BB

Alternate scenarios:

P2 leaves the game: P3 gets the button and posts a SB. P4 is BB. P5 is also BB. Hand 3 in this scenario: P4 has the button and SB. P5 has SB. P6 has BB. Every hand after this is normal.

P3 leaves the game: P2 gets the button. P4 has BB. P5 has BB. Hand 3: P4 gets the button and SB. P5 has SB. P6 has BB. Every hand after this is normal.

P4 leaves the game: P2 gets the button. P3 gets the SB. P5 gets the BB. This works just like normal.

This is similar to how Mohegan used to do it.
