I was in Tahoe last winter, and I don't recall Caesars Tahoe having a poker room. I played at Harvey's across the street, which had about 15 tables, spreading mostly 3-6 hold em, some omaha and some stud. Everyone was friendly, and the game was pretty soft. I think they have weekly tournaments, but they weren't running them when I was there.

I think I only saw one other poker room in Tahoe. It was at the east end of the little strip on the north side of the street. I think the name was something like "Whiskey Pete's". Anyway, they had spread limit hold em and some stud, but the poker room looked too grim and depressing to actually sit down and play a few hands.

I remember now. Whiskey Pete's is a grim, depressing casino in Primm, NV that those of us in So Cal pass when we drive to/from Vegas.

I guess I just got my crappy casinos mixed up.

By the way, if you are ever craving action in Primm, Whiskey Pete's spreads $0.25 video poker. For frequent players, they offer watered-down Corona and free ashtray rental.

I played at Harveys for a week long period of time when I went up to tahoe. The game when I was there was very soft with majority being tourists. They also have a nice jackpot system, only 1 card needs to play in any of their jackpots and Quad 9s or higher get 1% of the jackpot (like 80$), Straight flush got 3% (270 or so) and royal got 5%.

The dealers were also really nice and friendly especially Gus...say Jake and Art say hi if you see him

I just got back from a week in North Shore. Outside of the aforementioned places to play in South Shore, and places in Reno that you probably already know about, there are a couple of other options in the area.

- The Nugget in Crystal Bay has a nightly 2-6 spread game that starts at 7 p.m. On some weeknights, they had trouble getting even one game going. One weekends, they could just about fill two tables, so don't worry about waiting very long. The play was very sloppy, with either frat boy tourists or drunk locals. I picked up about $400 in roughly three hours of play there. Although it's a pretty dinky casino, the staff is very nice.

- There's a new poker room in Carson City called Casino Fandango, where they run a 3-6 game. It's a fairly nice casino, with a slightly better group of players (mainly locals). Beatable, but still tougher.
