Some wisdom please ...

Have played poker in some form for many years, decided to become student of Limit TH in the past year.

Took a few hundred $ online to get some kinks out of my game playing low-limit. I now have a steady win rate at low limit. I find 6 handed much more to my style, but can be patient enought to beat low limit 10 handed.

Have about 50 hours of play in local 3/6 home game with 7-10 players, with win rate of 3.5BB/hr.

Just starting to dabble at 10/20 online, and suspect I am competitive, with a very good win within the last week.

My questions to you all:

#1) Is it a reasonable expectation to make the jump from 3/6 live and online to 10/20 online?

#2) How would you compare skill set necessary to beat 10/20 online 6 handed vs. 10/20 B&M casino 10 handed?

#3) Any comment on the skill levels of typical opponents in the 2 environments, online and live?

I await your response with interest ...

Thanks.

The amount of time you have applied on low limits is nothing. I'd say play the 6-12s and 8-16s for about at least 100 more hours. I don't think you have taken on much variance at all. Claiming a win rate after 50 hrs. seems unreasonable to me.

by the way...the difference between the 3/6 game live and the 10/20 online is huge.

I think you will be facing many more tough players and a few sharks where your home game is probable full of fish and doesnt have have strong players but maybe one.

Expect to have a much harder time...

Also, you need to put in a lot more hours to judge your play.

I'll be the dissenting opinion here. I really think the 10/20 online (Party atleast) is very soft. Its comparable to the 3/6 locally for me. The only noticeable difference is that there is more preflop raising in the 10/20 game.

I really think you aren't ready yet for the move. I can't say I have the utmost authority but I am in the same position you are in, however I have some fairly signifigant experience. I have roughly 300 hours of online experience multi tabling 3 6 and 5 10 and I have a won a good deal at these limits. (I havent purchased poker tracker yet but ive cashed out roughly 6,000 in the past 7 weeks). I also a couple hundred hours of experience at b&m card rooms but that has been all 3 6. While I have been succesful at these elements I have made 2 "shots" at 10 20 on party. The first time I dropped 300 in roughly 2 or 3 hours, the 2nd time I dropped 250 in about an hour. Now I never hit any big hands and I think I only pulled down a couple pots (none being very large) but I would have to say that 10 20 has a very noticable difficulty increase compared to 3 6 and 5 10. So I think you should try playing the 5 10 online for a while before taking a shot at 10 20. Anyways, thats my 2 cents worth.....
