I had the following hand yesterday in a 2 tables SNG so we are in the money already but I am the short stack and I am really shooting for 1st. In the last few rounds, I have bet all-in a few times and got lucky when called by better hands. Would a raise of 500 or so and go all in on the flop be a better play ?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (4 handed)

Hero (t2634)
UTG (t3569)
Button (t7872)
SB (t5925)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K/images/graemlins/club.gif, K/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG calls t300, Button calls t300, SB folds, Hero raises to t2634 (All-In), UTG folds, Button calls t2334.

Flop: (t5718) 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t5718) Q/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t5718) T/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t5718
Main Pot: t5718 (t5718), between Hero and Button. > Pot won by Button (t5718).

Results in white below:
Hero shows Kc Ks (two pair, kings and tens).
Button shows Jh Kh (straight, king high).
Outcome: Button wins t5718.

You played it perfectly. You can't expect to win every single SnG; cards happen. Well played.

KK vs KJ preflop. You played goot, I am glad u raised all-in instead of betting small, this is the correct play.

Stop the results oriented crap.

2 callers and blinds, there's already 1k sitting out there. I'm almost certainly going all in, especially if I think he'll call me with KJ.

Anytime (almost), in any stage, when someones is ready to go in when you hold KK, or call your all-in, you can be very happy about it. As long as he hasn't got AA - that's just ideal for you. And if he does hold the rockets - well, it will be offset by the many many times people will call your KK (or put you all-in) when they have KJ, 44, A7, A2, KQ, AJ, JJ, TT, T2, 3J, 4K, 9K, 88, 83, AK and 74. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jason, it's nice to see you're replying to the RIGHT post, and not to some post by someone else in some other thread... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think what you did yesterday is called "multi-threading". /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
