At a card game that I frequent a player left the game to take a dump. He did not wash his hands as nobody heard the water turn on. This makes me sick, but the game was so soft that I stayed. Is there a way you guys handle this ?

I've seen studies and you would be surprised at the huge percentage of people that do not wash their hands.
Something to think about while you are handling chips and cards. At a 10 person table, probably 3-4 people are culprits.

At any poker table, I never touch my face. I also wash my hands with some frequency.
People who don't wash their hands after using the restroom are bad, but so is the dealer who coughs into his/her hand, the guy who rubs his nose and then touches his chips, etc.
Poker chips/cards/tables/etc are generally filthy. Wash your hands a lot and thoroughly. This is a good rule period.
For more on germs check this book out:

They should sell it through this website.

You paranoid pussy.
We live in a feckin sterile world and the feckin soap industry pushes this fear of dirt and disease on us.
Touch the chips and give your immune system a work out so its in good shape when you get hit by some real germs.

Troo dat.. I never wash my hands when I take a dump. This must be why I never get sick.
Sometimes I'll find a little crusty on my finger.. but I usually just use a chip to wipe it off.

In law school, I was surprised to find that about 75% of the men do not wash their hands, no matter what business they were doing. Its not like I was counting, or anything, but after awhile it was impossible to not notice. (Ok, ok, I don't need to hear about small sample size, seeing "more hands per hour," or multitabling.)

Why did this become apparent in law school and not any other institution I assume you must have attended prior to this?
Easy: Law School was more regimented. Up until that point I only scheduled my classes one or two at a time. Therefore, I rearely used the "facilities." Furthermore, you "Know" your law school classmates, so it is easier to notice what they do, and not do.

thoughts like these bug me as well, but i take solace in the fact that the human race made it up until now and most of the time we had no anti-bacterial stuff. people bathed infrequently and did it in nasty rivers. armed with that information, i can manage to eat a peppermint patty off of the carpet.

What do you want to know? I don't understand your question.
If you see somebody you know (lets say, "Joe"), and you happen to encounter Joe in the restroom, it is easier to notice if he does not wash his hands. If you are in the restroom with a bunch of strangers, you will probably not really pay attention to anything. In both cases, you probably "see" the same stuff, but in the latter, you don't pay attention to it, you just go about your business.
Is that what you want to know?
Or, are you implying that we keep a master list of what everybody does, which would include wipers, non-wipers, and wipees.
Well, in case you did not know, most law schools divide the incoming class into sections ... You attend most of your first year with your section mates. You cannot help but get to know a few.

In the games that I play, I find it customary that I do not was my hands after I take a dump. This all depends on how I am running for the evening.
If I'm losing, I usually like to come back and rub the guy on the shoulders that is winning and then I offer to make him a drink of course I use my hands to grab the ice, how else would I get the ice?
If I'm winning, then I get up and make myself a drink of course by scooping the ice with the glass, touching it with my hands would be disgusting. You can't be too careful nowadays.

In most poker games I play, I find it wise to wash-up BEFORE I take a dump. That is one time, I am pretty sure my hands are dirtier than my ass.

In the UK they did an experiment using DNA fingerprinting and found traces of 24 different people's urine on peanuts in a bowl of peanuts on a pub bar counter. Makes you think really.
Good point. In fact, particularly for children, excessively limiting one's exposure to pathogens actually weakens the immune system.
Death,
Stick with that picture.

peanut alergies is the case in point.
a study was done via pregnant women in london and followed it (very sizeable sample) for something like 10-20 years. they found that women who used a certain (peanut oil based, or base that contained some peanut oil) product on their skin and sore nipples had children who were four times less likely to develop the peanut alergy than those women whose children were never really exposed to the peanut alergen.
other similar studies showed that a child exposed to germs got sick or alergic with much much less frequency than those children not exposed to germs.

Does anyone ever just turn the faucet on and let it run for a few seconds after taking a dump... just in case anyone is listening.. but you don't want to get your hands wet. But then if someone comes in.. you have to pretend like you are drying them.

Maybe he really didn't take a dump. He could have been bluffing.
I've heard of getting a shitty hand before, but . . .

We did this, too. Did you have a magic word (in lieu of "bingo") that the winner had to work into a discussion with the professor in order to win? If so, what was it?

I quote George Carlin:
"You know when I wash my hands? When I GET [censored] ON THEM!!!"
Every time I shake a man's hand I feel like I'm rubbing my piece against his palm. That'll teach you to win my chips!
Nuff said.

Well, the consensus is that I'm a total wuss by trying to avoid contact with other peoples' feces. So I'll hop on the bandwagon. Lick those chips - if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger!
Also, tell your surgeon to dip his hands in poop before operating, you'll be better off in the long run. At least you'll be able to eat peanuts without fear.

Glad to see you've come to your senses. If you want to start getting real advanced... slowly start using less and less squares of tp per wipe. I'm down to 1/2 a square. I usually only get poo on my finger a couple times per dump.
Anyone ever have the surprise poopie... you know... you think you're gunna fart.. but oops!! It's a poopie

We started with bingo, then we got stupid and tried to do stuff like erection. Then we just started playing games on Yahoo.
ONe of the best times was in Property class, when we were drafting for Fantasy football. My friend got called on and the computer automatically selected Dominic Rhodes, who was already out for the year. quite humorous.
And if you are going to the damn trouble of turning on the water, why the hell would you just wash your hands. what the hell is wrong with you?

Come to LA, where 50% or more of the people leave the bathroom without visiting the sinks.
For what it's worth, I think it is more important to periodically wash your hands because of casino scum and filth than because you just touched your genitals.

At a titty bar one time, the strippers were bitching because no one was tipping them, so my friend went into the bathroom and "stink palmed" a $1 bill and then went up to the stage and the stripper took it like they normally do, right between the tits. That by itself was funny enough, but we got a good laugh for the rest of the night everytime she had her tits in someones face. So not only should you wash your hands after handling casino chips, you should wash your face after going to the titty bar

i agree with you, but if some guy you don't know just took a crap, didn't wash his hands and then offered you the mint would you take it?
SpiderMnkE
07-16-2004, 07:44 AM
hmmm... you say no I imagine... but.. how many people would then take the mint 3 hours later... knowing he still hadn't washed his hands. I bet most people forget he didn't wash his hands 5 minutes after the incident. So.. since you are likely to end up eating the mint hours later... you might as well eat it right then.

Even better is running into someone that you work with at the head after taking said dump and getting a little on your hand. Then he wants to shake hands with him and since you dont like this person very much you happily oblige to his request of the handshake. Little does he know that all his food is gonna smell like [censored] for a while!! Evil yes but I dont like him.
