How many Rice grads are there on these forums? Sklansky just called our alma mater "probably top 5" on the lee jones thread, so Rice is getting some rare respect.

I'm Hanszen '03.

Rice-a-Roni? Top 5 in what?

Mr. Sklansky is now ranking Universities along with porker hands?! Is there no depth to this man's humor?

El, Check out the links below:

Sundevils Baseball (http://thesundevils.collegesports.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/071503aaa.html)

Owls Baseball (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/college/rice_university_baseball_players.shtml)

I think the sundevils are in a tougher league than the Owls and they traditionally have been one of the better college teams in the country and attract very good players.

Zeno,

You are old. I am young. I do not pay heed to history and other old stuff like that. I am all about the present.

Rice Owls Baseball

College World Series appearances in Omaha? 4 of last 7 years.
2003 College World Series? Champions.
This year's draft? 3 of the first 8 picks.

And even after a disappointing end to the season due in large part to injuries.....
Rankings (http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/top25.html)

I see the Sun Devils did pretty well themselves, only 11 spots behind the Owls.

Olé!

I accept the old badge also, and wear it with pride.

The real advantage to being and getting old is that you no longer care about much at all anymore. For example, let's say some dastardly mugger accosts me outside some casino, threatens to shoot me, while demanding my money. Young people would freak or do something rash or brave. Old guys like me would simply laugh in the punks face and say ‘Go ahead and shoot – You’ll be doing me a favor (while quick as lighting pulling out my 45 and blasting him dead).

Cultivating the proper perspective about how to deal with the world’s ills and random flings of fortune is something that is now natural to an old Stoic like myself. I have aged well, methinks. I hope you can say the same thing someday.

It's probably about page 15 of 20something.

Quite a few of us are still in Houston. I guess I'm the youngest here.

Humber, Niemann, Townsend.

All 3 will be in the majors very soon if the arms hold up. I personally think Townsend will be the most dominant of the bunch.

And yes, it was great that guys I partied with went out and won the national championship and are now going to be in the big leagues.

College baseball = Stanford.

Of course, they choked this year, but at least the players can read; the same may not be said of the Fullerton players.
