Hi, I'm wondering if this was dumb to go all in with TT here. I was in pretty early position and was hoping to get called by something like A9...but getting called by two overcards wouldn't be that bad b/c doubling up would be nice. However, I did have a little more than 8 big blinds...should I have waited for a better opportunity?

I think this push was fine. You are starting to get desperate, you could well get called by a worse pair, and you don't really mind just taking the blinds. Tough luck running into KK.

Looks fine to me. You're the short stack after all, you can't sit there all day waiting for AA. Even if you just pick up the blinds here that's a 20% increase in your stack.

Agreed. You're the short stack and TT is as good a hand as any to try to double up. You're probably going to get called by someone with overcards who's looking to bust you, and that's exactly what you want to happen. Sometimes the guy across the table has kings. Oh well. But I don't think you'll get any argument that a push here was your only option. After that, it's up to the poker gods /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree that this all-in is fine. A lot of the time, I see people calling with as bad as A7-A9 in this situation.

I think I would have raised 3x the big blind hoping nobody calls me. In this case, the KK would probably have reraised you all in. That could have given you the chance to get away.

How close were you to getting money? If you were still far away, then hoping to double up is a good move. If you were somewhat close to the pay outs it would probably be smarter not to put all your chips at risk with a medium pair.

Raising 300 of a stack of less than 900 stack, then folding to a reraise is pretty bad. If the re-raise doesn't come from one of the blinds, he'd be getting better than 3:1 on a call; unless he could know with absolute certainty that he is up against an overpair, folding is a pretty big mistake.

Given those stack sizes, I would assume he is a long way from the money...
