In the spirit of the partial "revamping" of the micro-forum, and our collective return to fundamentals, I'm just going to post this hand and keep my pie-hole shut.

So you didn't cap the river with a full house? Or raise the turn for that matter?

If your going to slow-play on the turn, why didnt you cap the river?

I think I'd have to raise the turn. You'll get called by any diamond draw and some broadway straight draws.

Come on man, raise the turn, there is no point waiting. There are enough draws out there that you will often be paid off on the turn but not the river.

I have no idea why you didn't cap the river, especially given the lack of strength previously shown from you in the hand.

Why didn't you raise the turn?

This was pretty much the response I figured I would get after botching this one.

For some inexplainable reason I decided to go for an overcall out of the BB on the turn, while at the same time hoping a diamond came on the river. (Even though I know a diamond draw is probably going to call 2 cold just as easy as one.)

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but as soon as I clicked 'call', I thought to myself "That was really stupid."

This kind of thing happens to me from time to time, and I can't explain why. I know what the right play is but for some reason I talk myself out of it. Luckily these bouts of FPS don't come as often as they used to.

Thanks for settin' me straight. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

FPS = Fish playing syndrome?
I've been wondering.

Fancy Play Syndrome. This is in a book you should have read, although I can't remember which one.

EDIT: For the second time in this thread, someone else has replied so fast that it has made my post redundant. These forums are great!
