How come I think 'raise because he has a crappier ace more than 2/3 of the time and would probably try to check raise if he did trip up'?

Exactly what I was thinking. I was pretty sure he would check-raise the river with trips... I took some time before I called because lately I see these kinds of plays a lot and most of the time they have a crappier ace or pair. So they will call my raise a lot of the time.

I've only played around 2000 hands shorthanded, but this betting sequence has exactly happened to me on similar boards, and 4 out of the 5 times I had them beat, so i've started raising river bets like this. We'll see if that lasts.
